Tbi to HSR

Hi I am interested in switching to hsr once I drop in my 350 in my rs but since I have tbi i am not sure exactly what parts I would need. Has anybody ever done this swap from tbi to hsr or can someone tell me the parts I will need to do this I would like to be buying the parts little by little since I ain't over $1000 to spend at once. I would really appreciate any hints.

You will need a different ECU/prom as well.

Re: Tbi to HSR

What lead you to the HSR as the best choice?

Reason I ask is that some owners of TPI cars that wish to upgrade manifold due to engine mods(heads/cam) find HSR as a good alternative. However you are TBI so cost wise and performance wise there are other maybe better options available to you.

Re: Tbi to HSR

Well I wanted to swap to tpi but since I have researched that to have a good tpi hp you need aftermarket runners and alot of porting which I think would be kinda more pricey also since I am gonna swap a L98 block with a aftermarket cam I would really like to take the advantages of the power curve at the high rpms. I hope this makes sence a bit.

Re: Tbi to HSR

Most of us TBI owners want to get by low cost. Best bang for buck. consider EBL-ECU as a #1 with port fuel mod. Consider a pro products EFI manifold with fuel rails and FPR. Summit injectors. Cheap? add a 7.4L TBI unit and lose the injectors. Add a TPI FP. Plumb it witrh Aeroquip push fit hose. what am I missing?

I have long been debating this sort of setup versus the HSR. Technically the HSR's tunnel ram design with large plenum should be superior. I think the plumbing of the fuel is a wash for either conversion. I think the advantage of the single plane EFI setup is that no throttle linkages need to be messed with and you can use the TBI throttle, which goes neatly with all the sensors you'll likely need.

Re: Tbi to HSR

For a few more $$$ you can use Edelbrock low profile neck with an ebay LS TB. I bet that flows more than 7.4L TBI.

Re: Tbi to HSR

I'm sure it does, a 7.4 only flows 650 cfm or so and LS1 are up to 750ish I believe.

I'm still not convinced that's better than a HSR. The HSR is $510 for the intake and the rails. And the rail kits comes with everything, lines to connect the two rails and a non-adjustable regulator set at 3 bar. Most of the other rail kits seem to be the rails and mounting hardware only. The HSR uses a standard TPI throttle, so it can use the TPI throttle cable.

I been looking at the ebl but don't know exactly what I would need it also looks almost as expensive as if I go with the hsr.

The reason I would like to go wih tpi is because I already have complete tpi but don't have the harness and ECM, but I was thinking of selling it then buying my self a HSR instead of droppng the tpi.

Re: Tbi to HSR

SLRVETTE has a thread on his conversion from crossfire TBI to HSR. He used EBL-ECU if I am not mistaken. On corvetteforum he has a similar thread with more photos I believe. He won his HSR from Holley in some promotion I recall.
