Throttle body options?

I'm gonna be ripping out the 305 TPI in my TA and putting a 383, and I'll be using the victor E EFI intake with an LS1 Throttle body.

searching ebay gives tons of results for LS1 throttle bodies, and I was wondering if there is any particular PN that would work the best for my application. The only difference I know about is the drive by wire, and cable linkages, but there has to be more differences than that.

Any info/personal experience would be appreciated.

Also, an 80mm unit should flow plenty enough for a 500 hp 383 right?

Re: Throttle body options?

Most of the LSx guys with heads/cam make 500 hp on motor and run the Fast 90mm stuff. Anything in the 85-90mm range would be best, but it is possible to see good power using a ported out stock LS1 TB which I think would be in the 78mm range. 80 would probably work ok.

You'd want the cable driven models. Run the 4th gen fbody throttle cable and fab up a simple mount to connect it to the elbow. Really not much of a difference anywhere else that I know of. Some earlier years LS1 tb's had different throttle springs (brown colored and blue colored) but no idea whats the difference between them. If you have a 700r4 you will need to figure out how to mount the TV cable to the TB.
