Ever notice that only the 4 lower runner SR bolts loosen...

Heres why. Mine did,and my friends only those 4 that you start then slide the runners over. Either the bolts are too long or the threaded hole is not deep enough. When I prefit everything for this weekends reinstall I noticed that I can almost bottom out the bolt and slide the runner over it. My solution 22mm bolts. 25 is too long,20 is too short. Anyone ready to install one check this out before the install. You will not be able to torque the 25 down like the rest it will hit inside of the bolt hole. Maybe this is some of where the leaks develop on these things over time. Hope this helps anyone out. No hardware store will carry a 22mm ,I got mine through grainger, but had to buy a bag of them. Going to use them for mine and my friends. If anyone wants 4 for themselves, email me and you can just send me a buck through paypal to cover the stamp and ill send.them to you. Take care.

Its not that locktite wont hold it, its that you dont get enough clamp force with the 25mm.

If 22mm vs 20 mm is giving you "just enough" clamping force, that sounds a little too close for comfort to me. I think I would consider installing a helicoil so I could have a steel on steel thread engagement that I could actually tighten.

Its not that the 20mm is too short as it gives just a hair under a half inch of thread in the manifold its that the 22mm gives a hair over a half inch which is the max since the 25 bottoms out before you can get the head to clamp the runner. The original bolt should have been 22. I feel a half inch is sufficient, just feel better with a 22 vs a 20mm. Anyone else have their bottom runner bolts loosen?

I had the bottoming out issue. I RTVed my gaskets and don't seem to have any leaks... I would like a set of these for the next time I do the install though.

Thete's always the option to cut a couple mm off your bolts next time they're out. If you're like me and always working on your things when stores are closed, you get used to cutting bolts down.

Your not kidding i think they close purposely when i go into the garage. I was that close to cutting them if i didn't get them on time. Everything went good, best mod for this install is to slot just the four inner runner to plenum bolt threat ends, no need to do any others I feel. Another option people want to consider when installing this is where to use thread sealer . Now anyone who has inspected this manifold inside and out you know that alot of mounting bolts pass into where vacume is. For example the TB mounting bolts the bottom 2. All the plenum to runner bolts and cover to plenum bolts. Now what makes no sense is that they tell you to put sealer on the one bolt that mounts the map sensor for those that are using it, and obviously on all vacume nipples, but not on any other bolts. I recommend sealer on any bolts that pass into the vacume area, just common sense I feel. Super ram owners your thoughts? Take care
