Axle/Gears: 10 bolt 3.23 /9 bolt 3.70
Yet another problem with the miniram

Hey everybody...

I just finished installing my miniram after having to port the driver side coolant passage (it was almost 3mm off) anyways.. I installed the so called f body water neck on it and my stock throttle body won't bolt on to the intake because the water neck is in the way..

I was wondering what you guys who have installed this intake with a stock TB have done to get around this?

I very rarely complain about anything.. But this intake is a piece of s#%^
If I had bought a $200 intake then I wouldn't be complaining about the fitment.. But this is not a cheap intake..

Oh I had the same problem with my mono-blade throttle body but I didn't bother to try out anything else since I had one of the old miniram waternecks from before that sits lower. Guess better call up TPIS and see what they say though that is kind of bs the stocker wouldn't even work...

Hrmm. Can you show us pics? I've used both the vette and fbody water neck on the miniram with stock throttle bodies and never had a problem.

Agreed. I've installed two of these intakes with stock and aftermarket throttlebodies and never had a problem. Did you trim the coolant passage off the bottom of the throttlebody like the instructions say to?

The coolant/iac housing on the bottom of the stock Throttle body touches the f body water neck..

No I wasn't aware that I'm suppose to butcher up my coolant passage.. Lol. I guess that's what I'm going to have to do. Thx for the help.

That was like step one in the mid 90's of the "free mods", to remove the coolant passage on the throttle body. I suppose if you didn't do that mod the waterneck might hit. Didn't consider that. My bad.

I did the coolant bypass mod way back in the mid 90s lol. But there's no need to HACK the coolant housing on the TB for that. Just disconnect and re route the lines.

If you don't want to cut up the factory housing, TPIS sells these:

I put one of these billet pieces on mine after finding them on eBay.
Cutting this off the factory piece was part of the instructions when I installed mine.

When I first did mine back in the day, I cut up the passage and bolted it back on. I didn't want to just leave hose barbs unplugged, because when I went to car shows people would think I grew up in a trailer park.

Not sure how much deleting the coolant loop really helps, for me it was more of a cleanup thing. Too many damn hoses.

But if you think grinding the passage down is a hack, you would be in outright horror if you saw what I had to do to fit my turbo.
