Aluminum heads and single plane...

Just getting around to putting on a set of RHS 12055 aluminum heads on a 89 roller block. Went to put on a motown intake and there was excessive room side to side. Guess I need intake adapters? Anyone else have this problem with these or similar heads?

Re: Aluminum heads and single plane...

. Is that a Made in China intake? Could be the problem... regular intake to head gaskets don't fill the space?

. Does your block have dowel pins to hold the heads in their proper location?

. Did a previous or return owner have the intake milled to fit a milled block?

. Heads vs Intake... one Vortec and other Gen.1...?

Same intake everyone is getting off ebay.
Dowel pins in place.
Intake is new.
Both are Gen 1.

No experience with that intake but I have RHS 220cc based castings and my victor E edelbrock fits fine. On some excessively milled setups, i have seen guys use double intake gaskets. Just use RightStuff in between layers around all ports for best seal.

. Friend of mine got a Weiand intake made in China and it wouldn't bolt on, hit the thermostat housing, he sent it back, they said didn't realize the drop shipper was getting those now, and they found a NOS one for him of same part number still made in USA and sent it out to him... it worked fine... they looked very different...

Think they might be setup for a raised block and not a standard block so just gonna get some aluminum stock and make some spacers for $30. Instead of spending $170 for a made set.

Re: Aluminum heads and single plane...

i had to get my HSR intake milled to fit my RHS 200/64cc alum heads. the intake bolts for my head were actually drilled wrong too between the heads.... not happy with RHS/comp performance group in this instance but we made it work.

block was stock, non-decked heads were factory as well

Ither HOT ROD or CAR CRAFT did an article on knock offs and they gave some examples that stood out the most in the market place like the MSD 6AL boxes.

. Yeah, somebody posted a picture of a ProComp or somebody's ignition box that looked like an MSD on the outside and all it had in it was a semi-circular electronic unit of some kind obviously out of some brand of distributor... MSD successfully sued them...
