Well i have a 82 S/E and since the very first day i wanted to change the 82 Taillights cause i knew it looked aging

Well but why everybody with (Formula/Base)Tails insists in change to the T/A tail ?
Even me i loved that taillight cause the grilled style make it look more techno modern car and its smoked also ˇ
But what happened to me is that i tell a friend to buy me those tails when he flew to Mexico ...cause it was a direct bolt on from my 82 wiring harness cause it didnt use a separate sidemarker as 86-90 base tails use...when he came back Imagine my surprise ˇˇˇˇ he made a mistake and he brought me the 86-90 base tails ˇˇˇˇHoly ****ˇˇˇ well cause i couldnt do nothing
here is what i did : I changed my harness and make the outer lights to bright when i turn (i deleted the amber sidemarkers and reverse light with limo tint paper)But the 82s harness made the outer lights brighter so i had to change and made my own harness circuit to made all bulbs light with the same intensity
so i deleted the outer sockets and borrowed from the inners so now i had to make the taillights holes bigger (cause 86/90 base inner bulbs are smaller tahn the outer)and now istarted to love the look of the 86-90 taillights with the amber-and reverse section deleted and ilove to watch the large bright lines of the car in the night it reminds me of the 69-70 Chargers and Challengers
Now maybe i think we like the T/A tails cause we subliminally we know it means Performance or not ????

I forgot to say is that i like both tails but i only like the 86-92 base tail if the amber and reverse section is deleted
so all we see is RED thats why i always hate the Camaro tails and when a camaro tail is modificated to look all red i love it
I hated 86-92 Base tails cause it reminded me a japanese car and specially with those inserts on the rear bumper and the amber and reverse showing oohh i hated it
But in my car i doesnt look bad now (in my opinion)cause i only have red and i dont have those inserts
The T/A tail....i loved it cause as seen from behind the 85-90 T/As looked extremely aggresive with that huge bumper with the words pontiac printed on it and The Tail all naturally blacked out and with that grilled style it kickd sme major *** ˇˇˇ
I still widh for the T/A tail and bumper ˇˇˇ

 

For me its just an aesthetic thing. I think the TA lights like worlds better. I swapped out my 88 base lights of a set of 85-90 TA lights with the matching center piece.

Im only keeping those until i can get my hands on a set of 91-92 GTA lights, then im putting those in

 

I'd put the '85-'90 TA lights in. Not only do they look 10 times better, they should swap RIGHT in without messing around with wiring. Your stock taillights now and those TA lights are all 4 bulb units, the base lights are 6 bulb units.

 

I know but i switched from 82 style(same to 85-80 T/A) TO 86-92 BASE TAIL tahts why i changed wiring

Anyone have a Pic of the 92 T/A Tail lighten up in park lights ,like the first pic i posted here,personally i like very much the 2 piece style but the thing that bothers me is that when the car is lighten up,the extreme bulbs are only sidemarkers (i guess cause ive never seen a 92 lighten up) and thats why i love 86-92 basetails cause when the car is cruisin at night it looks real mean (almost the whole tail lighten)but they are not my favorite cause at day it doesnt look that good as Blackouted ones ˇˇ

I switched my tailights to 89 Formula tailights b/c i think they look better but thats just me...if u can go for the 91 to 92 T/A lights

 

I might be able to take a few pics once it gets dark tonight, if I can find any damn free time.

 

yeah I'm about to through a pair of TA taillights on my formula, I got to drill lil holes for the 2 xtra blinkers it needs.

 

Weird. When I swapped my Formula lights to T/A lights(other car) I didn't have to drill any holes--but I did have some spare lights--for the parking lights. I just cut them off and taped them up--that was it. Also--you might have to change 2 light receptacles to the T/A style--they might not fit.
