Here's 2 tips...lightly wet the entire engine bay, spray in Simple Green everywhere, use multiple size paintbrushes and brush everything clean, rinse, leafblower dry as much as possible. 2nd tip, never use Armor All. It contains alcohol which will draw out the natural oils in rubber and cause them to prematurely fail and also attract dirt. The Simple Green will make black things look black.
Here's a pic of what Simple Green did to my 442's engine compartment.

vortech305: I used 'Nevr-Dull' on the plenum and runners(first used mothers aluminum polish, then discovered nevr-dull which gives the same results AND is way easier/less messy to use). Came out pretty spiffy, the more i do the runners the more they look polished, you'd just have to see 'em in person to understand.
MetalliCamaroRS: Don't be dissin the duct-tape dawg :nono: I need a new washer tank, but in these pics it looks clean...
I must say, after the work put into it, I think my engine is super Sexy What do you guys think of those braded looking hose covers, black centerbolt wire sperators, and some of them purdy red MSD superconductor wires to set it all off???????

scottmoyer: I thought simple green was one of those super strong things that would strip paint? Or was that something else I'm thinking of? If it isn't, then I'm gonna go get me some of that and try it out =) Anyone use that 'greased lightning' stuff?

You can drink Simple Green! It's all organic and won't hurt anything. It does a fantastic job cleaning the tires, rims, grease on paint, interior fabrics and plastics, or anything that needs cleaning. It won't hurt anything.

Use some mothers aluminum polish and polish your air conditioner lines and canister. Real easy and only takes a good "Hand Job"! Ha...
Looks good, I am a fan of a clean car!
The runners shine up real nice as well!

ONEFORMULAOVERALL: You live in Tulsa, OK? Sweetness... did you hear about what happened to 39th? Supposedly(haven't went lately to check for myself though, and supposedly it was in the paper too) they've outlawed U-turns from 10PM-6AM If you've been to 39th before, you know that pretty well screws over the whole thing... Maybe sometime I'll get to see your bird
lasersi: Yep, but i started using 'Nevr-Dull', it's alot easier to use/less messy than Mothers and gives the same results - but MAN, there are alot of those lines and I get lazy just lookin at all of 'em...

They've tried to outlaw U turns at 39th before??? I didn't discover 39th until like last november or so.... Thing is, at 39th there are SO many people, I'd think it'd be hard to do a U-e in a parkinglot of someplace there....

Man, your engine pics are beautiful!!!! The Never Dull you talk about, is this the Eagle One Never Dull that is in a black can with the wool like weave stuff inside? I ahve used the mothers polish and not really happy with it.
Here's some pics of mine after a quick cleaning. I want to replace my coolant tank and washer tank since they are getting so grimey that are not coming clean.
