Totaled third gens

After reading z28Tweenkies post, it has me wondering how many of us on thirdgen.org have totaled our thirdgens (either through our own or someone else's fault) I know I have. I am responsible for the loss of one(1) 1989 Maui Blue Firebird Formula. As an aside, my father totalled my 1985 T/A back in 1988. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I've totaled 3 thirdgens in my life. first was an 87 Z, drunk driver hit me. 2nd was 87 GTA, hit black ice and rolled it over down an enbankment, 3rd was 91z28, electrical fire in dash. i now have another 91z28 and hope I can keep this one longer then a year

Well, if it's any consolation to the guy that started this post, I own a 1989 Maui Blue Firebird Formula, and I plan on keeping it out of a junkyard as long as I'm alive.

What was disheartening to me was when I met my insurance adjuster at the yard they towed my car to, the guys that worked there were dirt tracking it around the yard. The car still sounded great and still ran great, but my insurance company just totalled it and gave me a check. Sometimes I really miss my car. At least my fourth gen formula brings me some joy. Someday I will get another third gen though.

I lost my first thirdgen to a minivan .

http://www.fbody.com/members/MikeSmith/wreckpictures

Actually, it looked worse in person. For some reason the pics don't quite show the damage like it really was. Maybe because the bumper cover sort of returned to the original shape. You just can't quite see how much damage was done to the chassis and metalwork.

I hate red light runners too. I lost my 88 Maui Blue Formula to a 16 year old in a brand new Sebring convertible. I miss that car.

I totaled 2. One I hit black ice in a 1986 Z28 (burgandy) with every option, but TPI. It had power antenna, leather, t-top, console, everything. Then I got hit in a 1985 Z(blue), the lady was going 45 on the gas. The bumber dug into the back tires and the car would not roll. I have had this yellow one almost 7 years.

Holy cow! I can't imagine it looking worse than it does in those pictures. When you consider that the entire body forward of the rear axel was distorted beyond repair, it's amazing that you're here to share those pictures with us.

here's #13:

I totalld my '88 last september. i was my first car too, guess im one of those damn statistics now. had it ofr 3 yrs and it looked awesome. some chick lost control in another lane and sedeswiped me. i spun sideways and slid intothe back of a fd ranger. when i hit it id spun a 180* and ended up sideways in the median strip. i looked up to see the chick that hit me about 15 feet off the ground rolling through some trees. she landed upside down. i went over to help by running acrss 3 lanes of traffic, and got hit be a civic (not bad). by the time i got over there, the bitch was sitting on the side of a hill smokin a cigarette. her car was upsidedown. hehe. i'll post some pics as soon as i can figure outhow.

My car was totalled but I bought it back and repaired the damage with the left over money. The only damage on my car was from interior damage...go figure. A 91 camaro totalled from interior damage along! Steering column was busted from when they tried to start it and the center console was all broken. Wires everywhere, I couldn't even see the pedals it was so bad.
I still don't have door locks but that's because they would just get poped out again if I had em!

I totalled my 91 camaro RS a couple years ago. I rearended a lincoln town car. Man those things are tanks. $5000 damage on my car, and $50 paint damage on hers! Anyway, it actually turned out good, cause I got more from insurance than I paid for it, and then I found my beautiful 87 Trans Am 6 months later. Crazy, the motor is bigger in this car than the last, and with the accident, but my insurance is A LOT less. Oh well, sometimes crashes are good.

That was the day I finished parting it out, and was having it towed away for good.

Resurected RS...

My wife totaled our 228,000+ mile RS, wasn't her fault when a PT Crusier pulled out in front of her and couldn't accelerate out of the way in time. With the settlement money and $1600 I'd saved for a heads and cam package for my LS1 T/A, I had the RS repaired.

The RS is back on the road again, I've had her back for two weeks and have 229,7xx miles on the car. Drives and runs as well as before being totaled.

I'll post pictures when I get them scanned and a new picture of the repaired car.

A kid in his dad's new Accura was responcible for the loss of my first 3rdgen, a 1982 Camaro SC. He T-boned me in an intersection (testimony to the strength of these cars). I was uninjured and was able to limp the car home (although I had to hold the door closed while driving) but the insurance company declared it totalled. I have had 3 more 3rdgens since then and no more accidents (knock on wood!)

I have yet to loose a third gen to an accident, my moms grad am however was totaled by a third gen today. The guy ran a red light doing almost 90 mph and hit a blazer on my moms hood. Her car was totaled but there was immaculate damage to the 92 z-28. It was a shame it was a beautifal car that I would have treasured. I hated to see it being towed away, but the engine had been hit so hard that it broke the motor mounts and started to bust through the firewall! It was sad.

Dunno if it counts, but my first car i had last year, a 1994 Camaro V6 auto in "Quazar Blue" every option, t tops etc. was totaled to a minivan. Lady tried to run a yellow which went red right as she was crossing the line, and i had just put new brakes on the 'maro. i looked over, saw her light yellow and her pretty far away so my dumb@$$ didnt think anything of it, kept on cruisin at prolly just under 60, glance to my left and shes right infront of me Next thing i knew i had pulled a 360 from the impact, was off on the side of the road, and the van had a dent in the side and had ran into an old Jetta GTI that was stoped at the light going parallel to her. any-a-who, to make a long story a TAD big shorter i walked out with a tiny burn and a tiny bruise from air bag, the front end of my car had shattered, hood up like usual from that sort of inpact, engine (from what i could tell) was on the ground, and frame bent like no other. back by the right rear tire the quarter panel had buckled right behind the pass door I got pics around here somewhere ill try and get up. cop swore i was *** for being alive. If anyone knows of a 91-92 camaro either v6 or 305 tbi 5 spd with t tops in or around MD let me know. Im dying without my fbodys was in love with them since i was 5, get one and a lady kills it (althougn partly my fault)

Totaled 2 89 350(tpi) Formulas--1st was an 89 Maui blue--hit some guy doing like 70!! Totaled it-but I fixed it myself--then it was stolen . Then I had another 89-black Formula--I was rearended while waiting to turn--he was doing like 65! Completely gutted that one and put everything in an 86 Trans am--I saved that one from a junkyard! So--can I get credit for only wrecking 1 since I saved 1??
My 89 in disguise!
