You can get a good IROC-Z or Z28 with TPI for that money.

The IROC-Z28 is the top Camaro. Do some reading up here, they started in 85. https://www.thirdgen.org/tech/techdb.shtml

This guy is almost right but you should go with a 89 style . And yeah, what are you crazy? Get a Redbird What you should do is.... buy a thridgen with out a engine for less than a grand. Then spend the rest on the engine of you choice!

Or get anyone of the cars in my sig under Camaro&Vettes!!

Depending on your mechanical aptitude and willingness to get dirty, I'd suggest an earlier Camaro, or a late-model that's more of a fixer-upper. I bought my '82 for $1800, and it's just fine the way it is (350/T5, neither of which came from the factory), but I intend to make some serious modifications. I'm going to repaint it, replace the interior, put lower gears in the back (4.10s, probably), swap in a 4-speed (an M22 would be ideal- I'm still looking), and build a new engine for it. Definitely the way to go, as far as I'm concerned. Now, if you like convenience and aren't interested in working on the car that much, get a late-model TPI drop-top with power everything.

I have about $5000 into mine. Its still far from being "finished" but its really nice as-is.

I am thinking about selling it though, I really want a 91-92 GTA or a 91-92 Z.

Almost perfect. So far, I replaced the seatbelts cause the old ones didn't retract, replaced the armrests, and put in new underdash filler pieces. All I need to do now is get a new headliner, and a new roof trim piece above the rear seats. The major things (seats, carpet, dash, console) are all perfect though.

I always liked that year too of the camaro.. but do not
sell your firebird....

IMO Transams blow away camaro's in appearance....

just my opinion!

specially in the 4th gens....a fourth gen black Ram air transam with chrome WS6 Wheels next to a new Z28 is like putting
pizza next to an olive

All you need to do is get some different rims if you want to
really set your car off....
just look at your b/f's car.. that proves that.....

No Joke here guys...

I found mine on the classefeids of this very site!

There's plenty of guys selling cars (many not wishing to sell) and just put them on one webpage for enthusiasts like us...so they can tell their wives that they've put it in the 'classefeids'. Go look.

what are you all smoking!?! the 1989 GTA is where it's at =D
i got mine for 3K flat with a 10K mi. 350+ engine and 20K mi. rebuilt stock 700r4 (spelling ?). the reason it came for 3K was that the guy incurred massive credit card debt bulding up this car, needed $ fast, and it wouldn't pass smog yet. new fuel filters & catalytic converters and i'm all set.

hah

haha.. kewl.. well also I might add that I find
that I store my car for the winter, and by
doing so.. I appreciate it soooooooo much more
when I finally get to drive it.
If it is your daily driver.. that is how it
becomes easy to get bored with it.
what you should do, is get you something else to drive every day.. something thats really good on gas.. (just for driving to work and errands) and then when you get off work.. you will look forward to firing up "The Beast" hehe.

I got my 88 Iroc with a 5.0 for $1,500, and I picked up my 91Z from cousin for $1,800, had to put $1,000 into each of them in order to get them running right, the deals are out there just be patient and do some looking, sometimes they'll just appear in front of you. It also helps if you know some people

I also put my car up for the winter but as soon as the weather got somewhat nicer it came back out.I try not to drive it everyday, but you know how it is when you leave work and it is nice out and you see all these punks in their mustangs(that there parents bought them) and you just gotta have your car.ya know what I mean??But you are right though,I probably do get bored with it cause I drive it so much.

Guilty

I am guilty of that too..

Specially since my daily driver is the fugliest thing on 4 wheels.

big rusty plymouth trailduster 4x4...

it runs good... cept I gotta rebuild the carb now... but
haha.... when I drive that I feel sorta like south rockford trailer trash.. :sillylol:
All I need is the rebel flag sticker on the back window, a can of KODIAK, I need to offroad and allow my truck to be caked in severe mud, I need a insulated flannel shirt in the middle of august when its 90 and humid, tight Wrangler <--:sillylol: jeans, and a pair of boots.. then I would have to stop and pick up a 12 pack of Budweiser, and drive to the 500 track in Indianapolis and yell earnheardt out the window the entire trip there....
oh and dont forget the CB radio....

hehe
other than all that imagery....... it makes a good winter vehicle.. hehehe and work vehicle

Strong imagination!!

That sounds like my winter/work car.It has to be the biggest POS that I have ever driven(93grand prix with 300,000miles)-got it for $500 so I can't complain to much, but it just doesn't do it for me.Gotta have the speed. As for the vivid picture of the trailer trash thing all I can say is--- tight jeans hummm may be a good thing.J/K lol
