Went up to Carlisle for the show with Twistopher and Nasty Bird. Twist left before us, so on the way back Nasty Bird and I were messin around, got up a little over 100 I guess, and my pass louver started flappin and flew off. I ran back for it, but no luck. I was pissed. Off to the jyard tomorrow. Sorry had to vent.

Pics of us at Carlisle....
Here's a few shots of my car, Twistopher's, and Nasty_Birds90. It was a fun but very tiring day.
i had my passenger side louver go flying too when i was running against an eclipse. mine was my fault. every time i took the car into the 95-100mph range that louver would start to flap up, always said ahh, i'll fix it later, them wham there it goes flapping in the wind, LOL
good luck in finding one i had to order a new one from Hawks.
now you can two new ones so they can match!!!

i paid under $70 w/shiping, (new) came in in less than a week from hawks. (for one). the local chevy dealer wanted just under $90 for a new one. hawks will sell you a set of used ones for $100 or you can try e-bay, or the board here for a used one. (I'd go new)
i have only been to one junk yard here, somebody from this board said they had some 3rd gens in the lot. all i found were, RS's, firebirds, bertilinas, and early 82-84 stuff. nothing worth a damm, all of them were striped clean.
good luck

Mark, despite the weather or the louver, I bet you had a great time though. I spent 2 days there last year and still didn't get to see everything, especially in the vendor area. Talk about sensory overload, I was giddy as a kid in a candy store with so many cars to see. Do you have any more shots from the show?

I had a great time. I have 125 pics, somehow 64 got deleted, more bad luck.
Thanks Twist for the part #s. I'm hoping a jyard will be cheaper though.

Driver side louver on my '85 Z used to flap at speed, but I never got her anywhere close to 100mph (yeah, I'm a big chicken.

I couldnt find the prices on gmpartsdirect with the part number I have. May have been cause sometimes colored stuff can go by different codes.
I didnt like my hood blisters at first but now I do. If you do opt for them you need to either drill a hole in them or make them functional with screen (like I plan on doing) so the water that puddles up in that area can drain. I decided to make them function and also cut holes in the hood underneath the blisters to vent some heat out. I would go for the SS style hood but there is no money for something like that anytime soon.

Mark and Nasty (tony?) - Do you guys ever get busted for not having a front plate? I left mine off for a week last year, and I got nailed for $50. Ughh, so it went back on.
The blisters look to be about $265 for the set, I was thinking about the same thing, but dunno if I would rather have an SS hood. Still trying to figure that one out.
The only thing with GM parts direct is make sure you get a shipping quote when you get a price, sometimes they really beat you up on it, and other times it is pretty fair....
(i.e. $35 to ship the bowtie grille, when the iroc grille is like $6.50!
hmmm)

hmmm) hello again. yes Twist, you need to exercise more. Mark, go with the hood blisters. i was never crazy about louvers. i don't know, they just dont have that nice clean look to me. i have never had a front plate on my bird. one time i got pulled over and they said something about my front plate but i told them i just painted it and was waiting for the bracket to come in. usually they dont care b/c i have it in the car. the only reason they worry about it is because people will take a tag off of one car and put it on another. when they see it in the car, they dont care.
it was kinda funny to look over and see the louver flapping, then dissappear into the abyss. hehe. sorry mark

Man that sux Mark. I'm in the same boat also. I forgot to bolt one back down after painting it.
Now I have a mono-louvered hood, with duct tape over the bolt holes for the other one.
I doubt I'm going to find anything in a Junk Yard, so I'm just going to order one from somewhere. Or now that I think about it, maybe I'll get some blisters also. Hmm...

I'm not payin that much for blisters. I like the louvers. I'd really like to just not buy louvers and be able to get the SS hood. Ahh, who knows.
Yeah, NastyBird, it was kind of funny now I look back at it, but it really pissed me off at the time. Running back for it really hurt my legs, after walking all day.

nasty you get those pics developed and scanned yet? I want more pics of the yellow/orange wagon that was under the year one tent. Did you take any?
I've got a set of louvers sitting in my garage from when I switched to the 91-92 blisters. They are in good shape - however, the passenger side is missing one or two of the hold down studs. If you want them I'll let them go pretty cheap.

Mark: did you ever find a place to host your shots? I dont think I ever got a chance to look at them beside the couple you posted... I need to get on the ball, I got stuck working late last night to count stock for inventory. Recovered $207,000 dollars in stock though which was a good thing. We have a million dollar inventory. Hard to believe.
