not a stupid question

Topics will come up more than once as new members present themselves. Makes us feel as though our inquiries are foolish because they have already been discussed. Perhaps that new member has the answer to a question someone has not asked as they did not wish to recieve an " already been discussed " response. Its a bit unfair to basically say " we've already discussed it, no further discussion necessary ". Wouldn't that eliminate all purpose in these boards ? I mean you no disrespect to anyone, I simply feel that any questions and opinions may be valid to someone else whether they have been posted or not.. Im sure this will get closed quickly, and it is almost my intent.... just try to understand that even though you may have posted 1000 or more times, it simply makes you an elder on the board. Your knowledge and opinion would be valued. What type of perception would a person had of this board if he recieved such negative responses. If you must say such a thing, atleast offer a link to the discussion rather that being obstinate about it. Again, no offence intended to anyone, yet if you take offense to it, perhaps you should brush up on your nettiquete.

New members come to the board and they think their problem is new and different by looking at the first page and not seeing anything directly for it. I did it too. I would ask the same stuff that gets asked a million times until drew told me to do a search. I did and I found more info than I ever needed. Now as someone who uses the board several hours a day. Most of what I do are searchs. The board doesnt have to have a steady stream of "post pics of your car" posts to keep me entertained. But if you are answering the same posts over and over again it just gets very redundant.

Yep, it's the whole "Give a man a fish vs. Teaching a man to fish" argument. When I first found this board, I spent almost an entire month going back in each forum reading all available posts. Almost a month! I saw all of the "Which headers are best?" posts. I saw all of the "How do I install a K&N filter?" posts. I've seen and been part of a gradual withdrawal from posting. Why? Because people just show up and expect to be spoonfed that which is readily available to them via a simple search. To me, if you can't do some research on your own time, then there is no way I'm going to waste MY valuable time replying to you. It's just not going to happen - and if you'll notice, a lot of people are starting to think that way.

Jesus, how many times has the 4th Gen console, or 4th Gen Seats topic come up?

I don't like the fact that a withdrawal is occuring, but it's posts like yours saying "Don't expect anything from newbies - they can't handle a simple search" that is contributing to it. Sheesh, if they can't handle a search on this message board, then they probably shouldn't be working on their car alone without some type of supervision looking over their shoulder.

Just my opinion and it's worth what it cost ya,

Steve
