Problems with new hood

I got a new SS hood from unlimited products (up22.com) today. They said it would take 6 weeks max, it took 8 weeks, doesn't seem like that big of deal but there was a car show I had signed up for that I had to miss due to that. When I opened the box up, I was really dissapointed. On the drivers side corner by the window there was a chip out of it, about an inch square piece is missing on that corner. Then when I looked undereneath there was a hole in the fiberglass where the scoop meets the hood. As if this wasn't enough there are patches all over where they didn't use any fiberglass matting, only resin. Just when I thought my problems where over, more arose. I tried to put the hood on, and it is off 3/4 of an inch. On one side it rides on the fender, and on the other there is a gap inbetween the fender and hood. I would have thought there would be more care in manufactoring this $650 hood.

I am telling you this for two reasons: One is for future buyers from unlimited products, I would highly recomend staying away from them. They will send you a cheap price, only for them to add $150 for a latch on style, but there aren't any latches there, only bolts. I am hopeing they are made out of pure silver, because they did cost $150 bucks. There is always the $100 shipping charge they don't tell you about untill the truck is sitting in your front year with a shipping bill.

The second reason is this. Has anyone else had any problems with their hood like this? If so what did you do? Thanks in advance.

Have you contacted them with your complaints yet? I would bet they try to make good on the deal, rather than have a bad product out there for everyone to see and someone unhappy with it also. Not trying to side with them, but I would try to get it solved before bashing on the company. Now, if they refuse to help you, then by all means, bash away!

I have not been able to get ahold of anyone yet. But I think I have grounds to "bash" already. I shouldn't have to deal with all this trouble. If this is expected they should put it in the order, "you will have many problems when you recieve this hood" I am not trying to sound like I am a hot headed mean person, but my experience should be made known about this transaction. So that future buyers will know what others have experienced.

Yeah, I think I'd be slightly upset, myself. You paid for it, and you should get a quality product.

Keep trying to get a hold of someone to make your complaints known. If they run any kind of a respectable business, they'll replace the hood with no more trouble to you, and hopefully no more money out of your pocket.

Sorry to hear about that... I would get on them to either replace the hood, or FULL refund including shipping. Next time, you should deal with ASCD... they have great products and service.

another person pissed off at unlimited industries.

welcome to the family my friend.

i know the exact feeling. i ordered their 2 1/4 cowl induction and man was i pissed when i saw it. my hood arrived with pits all over the gel coat (or the lack there of gel coat). there was a chip on the same part yours is but mine was on the assenger side. there was also a crack in the front. there is supposed to be a gel coat on the hood. mine was mostly primer. i also noticed that you mention some thing about the hood being cheaper if you order it without the hood lach. i fell for that one to. after spending an additional $300 dollars on getting the hood straighted out i found that i needed hood pins. whenever i drove it i saw the front end of the hood shake like all hell (i thought it was going to blow right off). so be prepared to drill holes in your hood for hood pins. im sorry you had to go through this. i try my hardest to warn everyone about the **** quality of this company. you would think that this company would inprove the quality of there products. well go figure. again im sorry that you had to experiance this. come to think of it, i dont think i've ever talked to a satisfied customer of unlimited industries.

PS. heres a pic of the hood now. it looks pretty good now.
