Progress Pictures! 1984 S/E (got Trans am fendors/hood/taillights)
Okay folks. Here are a few updated pictures of my brown 1984 Firebird S/E.
I have fixed the broken headlight and I have added front trans am fendors and ground f/x. I have also added a set of grid 85 T/A taillights. Next on the list is to get the doors replaced with the ones taking up valuable space in my garage! Can I get a witness!
I just got married July the 6th and I haven't had any time two work on the car. Just a few hours here and there. So this is all the further I got.
Let me know what you all think....comments...questions.
Later fellow thirdgen enthusiast.

Here is a fendor shot. There was a few dents in them so I banged them out with a brass hammer.
I'll go over them again before painting the car.

Here is a shot of the new headlight. Got it all put back together well. I need to align the panels yet. I had to get a whole new headlight assembly because the other one was toasted by a deer. The assembly was off of an 84 Trans Am. The hood was of the same model year but different car.

The other fendor. I love the little flare ground f/x on the car. I had to bang out a big dent in front of the turn signal. I scored these fendors and ground f/x off of another 84 Trans Am.

This picture gives you a good idea why I have to replace the doors. Look at the rust line. I drove past this car on my visits to my inlaws over the last three years. I saw the rust develope over that time. It's all the way through the bottom inner panel.
Scored two different power doors for 39 bux a piece from a local pull a part.

I found a standard spoiler from an junk yard for $5. I know this car needs something on the back. I would like to get a wrap around spoiler 85+ or the 91+ spoiler. I don't want to pay the $400 for the GT Auto ones. I would much rather spend that kind of money on a new engine or new carpet and other interior needs.
I love the new taillights. I have a gold bird to put in the middle but haven't done it yet. Go figure.

Well that is it for now.
I want to put a 91-92 formula/firebird standard nose and rear bumper on the car. Good luck finding one I guess.
I also have the little rear f/x. I don't know how I am going to put them on the car. I don't want to drill a hole. Any suggestions?
Ive got to fix a serious rust problem under the hood as well as fix some dents on the fendors before paint. The cars body is pretty decent.
I hope you have enjoyed this tour.

I think you need to drill a hole in the rear quarter for the flares, so you might be better without them for now, unless you found a way to tack them on there.
It seems there is a low population of people on this board that actually like the styling of the 82-84' birds and T/A's, and I can't see why, I think they look great. That SE is gonna look very nice with a spoiler and nice new paint.
Here is a pic of a white Trans Am showing a good angle of the rear flares...

I have been waiting for you to start on it again. I can't believe you
got all that done after just getting married. I can hardly find time
after 7 years of marriage. Keep on trucking, and keep the updates
coming. I look forward to them, like I enjoy doing my own...

It's starting to look alot more healthy Bill.. fine job indeed
Where did you get the taillights though ? Last time, when I was hunting for them, the only place that had them was glissions and they tried to screw me (not literally of course).. on the price even after I told them how much the quoted on the phone.
Liberty has a green 91-92 there and it appears to have a front on it although I didn't go look because I didn't have time. I don't know what shape it's in.

Deadbird,
How long ago did you see that green bird? Was it damaged in the front? if it was a 91-92 I think they crushed it already. If you have gone within the last three weeks it may be a different one and I'll have to check it out!

It was thurs or friday of last week. My bud & me were out there hunting for a gas tank to hack up for his truck (that's why I didn't check out the car in any detail).
It's right on the edge of the isle between GM & ford and I believe roughly 1/2 the way back.

Thanks for the tip deadbird! I may check that out after work next week or so. Im going out of town today.
You any good at welding? My 84 is out of comission at the moment. I took out the interior because I have a hole in my firewall. Would you be interested in helping out a fellow thirdgenner? My dad has an arc welder. I need to fix this hole in the fire wall so I can put my interior back in my car. I hate having it all apart like that. It's starting to depress me.

Hmm..... Kinda does look like a turd though. Have you ever though about preping the car your self? I'm mean Primer will not look any worst then that paint. If so what color do you plan on. Probably <font color=red>red right.

Oh I plan on doing all the body work myself. I did the body work on my first 84 Firebird and as well as the body work on my brothers 84 Camaro. Im no stranger to it all.
I will most likely paint it black or a dark green....maybe yet a navy blue....Im not wanting to gut the interior for a different color unless I find a parts car. So Im sticking with colors that will match the awful tan interior. I don't want to paint it red. Ive already owned two other red firebirds.
Here are some pictures of the work I did on my first bird. Mind you this was my first experience with everything. So the pictures aren't that great.

As far as the arc welder part goes.. I had enough of those & thin gauge metal over the past 5 years.... I've got a cambel hausfield 110v flux wire feed that does a great job with light metal that I could tote there to give you a hand. I have no prob giving you a hand.. Just shoot me an email & let me know when is good for you bud.

Well, I got my new doors on this past weekend. I forgot my digital camera and so it will be a while till I can post pictures. Im not going back up to visit with my inlaws for about a month. So I will post pictures then.
I switched the doors over with the help of my father in law. It took us about an hour and some change to replace both doors. I had done this proceedure once before so I knew what was going on.
I tore down the old doors and replaced the lock cylinders from the old doors to the new. Gotta be able to get in!
Swapped the door panels and she's done for now. The drivers door is black. I saw the tan door panels on the door and I said yup...Im definitly going to paint the car black and gold!
Well gotta jet.

Unfortunatly no. That is my bud Kirk doing the painting for me. I did the prep work on the car. I was only 18 then just getting started in my thridgen obsession. I do have access to his garage. I is setup perfectly for painting. When I paint the S/E. I will probably do it myself in his garage. He hung up his tools a while ago. He doesn't do that stuff anymore.

Yeah my Dad did the same. He Painted cars for 30 years before he gave up. Back in the day he use to paint Ferraris for a while. He told me he cracked the window on accident. Just a small crack on the corner. Said it cost him somewhere around half his paycheck. Well he got in some conflict with boss and quit that job. Would have been a great job but who knows. You have to learn how to play the game at work even if you dont like the rules or if the rules dont make sense you still have to follow them. He could never learn this. My bro got all tools. Wish that I had got them cause he just lost them all. Man! thats 10grand worth of tools! Now that I think about that. I really wish I would have got them!!! (&#% #@$(& (%(*&$# (*(&(*&()*&

Yeah, I realize what it will take to swap to the 91-92 style. I used to own a 91 Firebird that looked identical to yours. Hmmm. I wish I still had that thing.

The rims are 15" N24 gold painted rims that were mandatory if you had the WS6 package that included 4 wheel discs. The centers were for 83 ONLY and said....
