Kumho's?

What do you guys think of Kumho's? I'm thinking about getting the Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's. Here's a link to the specs and a pic. Will they look good on my car?

I have Ecstas - 245/40/17s on all 4 corners. They're a damn good tire - cheap too.

I looked at those as well when I was shopping for tires, I didn't hear much about them at the time, and I was hesitant to buy something inferior that my life was riding on... But as for how they look, I thought the tread pattern looked very aggressive and sleek. I ended up going with Bridgestone Potenza RE730 P245/50ZR-16 tires and I've been very pleased with them. Though they did set me back quite a bit more then the Kumho's would have... live and learn, perhaps I'll go with the Kumho's next time around.

Also you might wanna try a search for information about those tires. Perhaps that might draw up some information...
Just doing a quick search I found this previous post about someone looking for tires.

I have them and love them. If I end up getting 30K miles out of them, I will never buy another tire.

You think they are inferior because you have never heard of them?!! Have you ever heard of the IROC GTZ? If you haven't, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. That's a bold statement! Kumho tires are far from inferior. In Europe, they are the tires that are on professional racing cars. They are the Good Years, Bridgestone and Firestones of Europe. I believe they are actually superior than the American brands. The company is now recognised as a very serious supplier of race and rally tires with performance to rival the established brands.

I bought the Kumho 712's when I got my new 17's becuase they were pretty cheap. They are an outstanding tire for the price you pay for them. $105 for a 275/40/17 is hard to beat when your buying tires and they perform pretty good to boot.

I was just saying why I didn't go with them in my experience... Not that they were bad or something. Sorry for my ignorance...

One thing though.....why did you post this question in the appearance room? When it comes to handling, let alone safety, looks are not near the top of my list when making choices. Not bashing, just asking......I mean, if it's just a show car, then sure, but if you drive the thing, safety and handling should dictate your decision not looks.

Then go with the Kumho's, but some people think the tire appears to be skinny. I think it's the huge groove going down the center, but I have no complaints.

I have Kuhmo Supra 712's on my Mustang SVO and they are honestly the best gripping tires i've ever raced on. I'll see if the BF g-force KDW's are better when I get them on my B4C.

I have the Kuhmos on my 17" WS6 wheels. They are a decent tire, but lack in traction due to the harder compund of the rubber.
When it is cold, about 30-55 degrees outside, the tire is kinda slick, traction-wise. Overall they are a good tire at an awesome price.

I've owned a couple sets of Kumho's, and I've convinced a couple friends to try em out and they have been happy with them. Great Dry traction, and even more important on a street driven car, GREAT WET traction. Plus, they are dirt cheap

I get that compliment a lot, especially from Mustang owners.

They hold up pretty good, if you are talking about wear. Last time at the track, I could only get a 2.1 60' time. Best 60' with street tires on my car is a 1.99.
It seems that everytime I go to the track, I'd have different wheels and tires on my car.

my hubby has them on his 406 S-10, his only complaint is they don't leave really dark black burnout marks after brake stands!

Well, to be honest, I'd like to get shots of girls posing with my car, but since it seems that my car is going to be out of commission for quite a bit longer, I am tempted to just use other peoples cars for my images. I might use my friends 95 Supra TT or another friends 01 Viper GTS since those cars get a lot of stares from hot chicks.

Well, you could open up the diff and have the insides welded together, then you would always leave two black lines. You'd lose high speed cornering ability by doing that though.

Kumho Tires

I had Kumhos on my 15s (215/65s). They were ok tires. They are not the best, but they are not the worst. I only had them for 4000 miles so I can not vouch for the tread wear. For daily driving they are good tires.

I have the same...

245 50 16 Kumho's that bad@ss89camaro. Sweet tires, look real nice all shined up, crap on my rims (IE my rims are crap), but the tires look nice

Handling is great. Drove through sleet storms in the mountains of arizona last summer with no problems at all than drove back hitting 110 at one point on I10 coming back from Arizona with no problems whatsoever.

I bet I get more than 30k out of them.

Also go to tirerack.com get their price and than try finding a bigO tire (or equivalent) store and have them match the price. I believe I got all of my Kumho's for a walk out the door price of 83 each. That was down like 40 bucks from their retail price.

Good Luck,

James
