1982:the Public Opinion To The New Generation Appearance
1982 What was the impression of the people for the drop of 2nd gen production and the introduction of this timeless lookin model ??
Were they happy with the new look and performance ?
Thirdgens were out on late 1981 ??
HAVE YOU ANY ROAD TESTS for all the engine to post ??
thanks

I was just out of high school when the 3rd gens came out. And as I recall most Camaro and Firebird owners did not like them. They were very loyal to the old 2nd gen look and the Smokey and the Bandit look of the time. That was also the end of the 400 cu in engine in the f-bodies. If I recall properly.
well it was before my time, but I've always had the impression that (in general) people thought of them as modern and almost futuristic...

It gives the impression that the stock performance was way better and that the look was only "acceptable" to the enthusiasts....

As I recall there was quite a splash when the were introduced. The Camaro was Motortrend's car of the year, and was the Indy pace car. You don't acheive those things without making a strong impression
