Engine compartment cleaning/painting...
I have no idea why but my IROC's engine compartment is extremely dirty compared to the rest of the car. Whoever had it last painted black over the factory yellow which looks kind of cool...if it was done right. So as I've been scrubbing away at the crap inside, this black paint comes off with it. At least on one side. So, if I get it completely clean, one side will be black and the other yellow. ANYWAYS...what do you good people recommend doing about cleaning a very dirty engine compartment? I've heard that powerwashing it could hurt electrical components. Should I just do it by hand with degreaser or what? After I'm done cleaning it, I'd like to spray it black again so it matches a little better. I know some people on here have done this. Do you just use black primer? Do you just take out easy stuff like the fluid bottles and mask everything up and spray?

I have always powerwashed mine... never had a problem. Probably done it 5 times.
Just use your head when you're doing it. Don't spray directly onto exposed wires, and cover up things like the alternator with aluminum foil. I usually cover the distributor for peace of mind and exposed wires.
Like I said.. never had a problem. Work really well too. It takes like 5 minutes where by hand would take all day.
