Center Caps Stolen!!!

Last night, some ****bag took 3 of my center caps. The car was parked right in my own driveway. Theres nothing I hate more than a thief. I only hope that karma is true, and the bastard gets whats coming to him.

My question is does anyone know if there is a way to lock these things on? I was thinking of something like the cable locks they have for hubcaps. I just don't know how I would attach it to the cap.

My last set came off from just driving around(potholes,RR tracks etc.) I don't want to have to buy a new set every year.

Does anybody have a way to keep these things on the car and away fom thieves?

Thanks for any help,

Brian

you could glue them on or use bondo on the spoked of the cap and that will keep them on forever

You would then never be able to balance your tires.

The problem is, is that with most people willing to do that (steal others belongings), if they couldn't easily pop the caps of, they would most likely resort to kicking the **** out of them & your wheels untill they (the caps) broke off.

Put a little silicone sealant around the cap where it makes contact with the wheel. They wont come off then!!

I should go steal somebody's IROC centercaps for my wheels
Nah, I couldn't live with myself if I did that.

Damn Thieves.......

If they want your caps bad enough they WILL get them off.......glue or not.......

If you live in a small town.....what i did was make a mark on the caps and if they are ever stolen go check EVERY rim that has them for the the mark you made......then you can get them back....sooner or later and beat up the punk that stole them......

I put some Silicon around them when i stick them to the wheels
Then when i get tire work doen twist them off reall hard and it breakes the silicon loose, then do it again when you put them on.

I've also had mine stolen, the whole set, and then later just a few monthes ago, I lost one when it fell off. They're expensive as hell to replace, even if you get the aftermarket ones. I did some research when mine were stolen a year or so ago, and I didn't find any type of locking kit for them.

It's a damn shame, because all they'd need to do is extend a plastic edge around them, and they could be locked down under the lug nuts, which wouldn't prevent them from being stolen entirely, but it would make it a whole lot more risky for the thief and less likely to happen.

If I ever get back into resin casting, I may try to come up with something like that.

I can think of one person on this board who endorses stealing!

I hate it when my center caps get stolen or missing. What GM should have done was make integrated center caps or make them twist on like the lugnut caps. When I had my snowflake wheels, I only had 2 centercaps left and I put them on the rear. After a short drive to the store, they were gone. Thats why I am running my GTA wheels without the centercaps. They look a little incomplete, but at least I don't have to worry about buying replacement caps every month.

That silicon idea sounds good though.

silicone ? glue ? Bondo ? Come one people I know you have heard of JB weld? Steel in a tube? Ok if you havent I would get a tube. Its a epoxy and thats about the strongest bond that you can get. Just mix a little of the red tube (grey stuff) with a little of the black tube (black stuff) If you put this anywhere dont expect it to just come loose. Its just slightly softer then metal. If you use this keep in mind a few things. Its kinda water like unless you let it sit for about 5 minutes. So what does this mean. Well if you put it behind your center caps it just might drip down the rim. That will be real hard to clean up. and dont bame me cause I'm telling you now! Let it sit till its kinda like a gum like state. This way it sticks where you put it. Another thing if you use it for your center caps and someone tries to rip you off again one of two things are going to happen. 1 they will give up trying. 2 they will most likey break the center cap trying to get them off. I bet the plastic breaks before the JB weld.

>here is the stuff.
>Once you use it one one thing you will not be able to stop
using it on anything you can find. I always have some good old JB weld in the house.
>true story, Dad sealed a small crack in a engine block on a 4 banger. The weld lasted over a year!

can you just keep them on the wheel and take the wheel off if you have to get in there?

If you ever have to change the "tire only" or for some silly reason like "balancing" the tires the center cap will HAVE to be removed.
