Why would you pay $4000 for an RS? Thats insane! For 4k, you could get an L98 or Lb9 car!
most any V8 thirdgen you can find that is under $4000, has been beaten to hell and back and then back again...I know a good one turns up every now and then, but most of them need lots of help...because everyone that has the good ones isn't dumb enough to let them go...so if your looking for a good project car, go find yourself an old 82 z28 and have fun, if you want a nice looking car to drive to school and work, the RS might be the better choice for you..

if you do decide to go with the V6, well we have our own forum, and last I checked, the LG4/L03 isn't that far ahead of the V6 as everyone seems to think.

lol in stock trim it is definitely an almost imperceptible improvement ... but then there's the fact that the 305's can easily be built up whereas V6 performance parts are few and far between =/

I think you will be happy with the rs. I have had both, and while my IROC was a little faster, It always had some little thing going out on it. I now have an rs with the tbi, and while it's not as strong stock, It is responding well to mods, and has never given me any problems. I had the iroc for about three years and have had the rs for about 1.5 years now. If you can't work on the car yourself you definatly don't want the tpi. Just my opinon, no flames please.

As a side note for the 225HP V6....he listed the stock HP as 173...that's the cubic inches of the 2.8L, not the HP.

I probably paid too much for my car... 1989 Iroc 305 auto... $5800 CAD... runs sweet, finding all sorts of things wrong with it in terms of interior, mostly minor.. And most of it I can easily fix myself...

I'm not 16 so insurance is pretty cheap (never had an accident so I have about a 43% discount)

4000.00 bucks can get you an incredible car. I picked mine up for 3999.99 dollars and all it needed was back tires. EVERYTHING was perfect except it had 106,000miles some people are affraid of high millage cars but if you know what you are looking at and the previous owner had taken care of it like mine had you should be okay. He included with my purchase a folder about an inch thick full of all the receipts of maintenence done to the car ever since they he bought it, including the window sticker and build sheet. I put about a 600.00 worth of performance goodies and the 305 is running low 14's I do recomend looking for a 350 car becasue now I have to do the swap myself.

Tell your Dad I sad *#$^ #(*# $&# )(#@)( $ $ # ($

heh.. Naa better not do that. Then he might not give you the car. Just get a Job after school, dont tell him cause he will want rent. Belive me Parents alwayz want rent. Buy the car your self. You will respect it alot more if you do. Or are you buying it yourself? Anyway if he stops you then <font size=5> (^%* ^$&*%*<font size=4> %*&%**%(*<font size=5> ^*&&%<font size=2> %&*^<font size=1> ^&*&%

Post count is NOT a measure of intelligence or experience.

Sorry Mark.

Not a piece of ****

My 87 Trans Am has 210,000 miles on it with a rebuilt motor and is running strong. For the things that do go wrong with them are cheap and easy to fix or replace. GET ONE!

well man good luck on working your dad over. first off be careful, i'm on my 2nd thirdgen now, and i'm only 16, bought the first one when i was 15 1/2 and kept it for about 8 months, it was a dog but a decent car. now i've got a fairly nice one a few spots that need worked on, but it runs great, and looks good too. i spent 3500 i believe on it, my memory on things involving money sucks. just look around and find something you like, i almost bought a v6 before i found mine, it was beautiful but i waited a little while and found mine and am quite happy. so just be patient.

When I went to go get insurance on my 1991 RS 305tbi 5 speed they didnt even ask me what engine or transmission it had they only asked my if it had any security devises, and if they ask you that on a car new enough to have vat's tell them about it because that saves me 20$$ a month on insurance.

about insurance, lbrohez is rights! they dont even bother about what kind of engine you have, at least they didnt ask me about it or my friends iroc. also mine is an 89 and has the vats sucurity on the key and they did reduce my insurance at 25 bucks a month so it is definetly worth it
