While looking at my head, I though it would be cool to be able to see the nice roller rockers people install on them.
The covers would have to have some kind of coating on them so that the oil will not stick to it so that when you park, the oil will drip down and then you can see the top of the head.

I thought of that a while ago. I never said anything. Didn't want to be flamed or wasn't sure if there was a material that would withstand the heat.

They have composite valve covers already on the market for the LT1 and LT4, they just need to make it transparent.
I saw (I can't remember where) a set of valve covers with a "sight window" installed in the top of it so you could see the rockers. Someone cut a window out of the top of a stock valve cover, then just took a thick piece of plexi or something (I don't think it was glass) and bolted it to cover the hole. It was pretty cool.
What'd be even cooler is cutting the top off of a pair of Edelbrock valve covers and cutting a piece of plastic to match, then bolt it back on...
Hmmmm....

Hey Steve,
how's the turbo setup coming along?
I don't know if you know RJ with the Black C4 Vette, he is doing a single turbo install on his ride.

I have seen some transparent covers before...They were for perimeter valve covers. They were kind of like scauffiel said, they had like a transparent window on them...
Speaking of this has anyone seen one of those transparent distributor caps on before? I thought this would be a cool idea, but I have never seen one before on the small GM distributors like alot of us have.

The clear valve covers have been out since the 60's. They don't make them any more because they don't last very long. Same goes with the clear distributor caps, even though they still make them.
My dad told me that you would see them on lots of custom rods back in the day. Mainly the ones that didn't see much driving time. Hell, you used to be able to get a transparent cowl hood for some cars.

The COmpany that did the Transparent window in the valve covers was called CROSSFIRE. they also made the HEI dist. cap that ran the plug wires in a nice order on the same side of the motor. etc.
Well they are no longer in Buss. They were about 5minutes from my house here in ohio.
Zeph. a valve cover with a window would be easy to make. The down side is the Oil is gona stain the acrylic or plexi you use over time and start to look like hell.

Like I said, it's up in the air. I'm just trying to get my ride ready for the Giant's Square deal in September. It'd be nice to get her out to be seen ONCE this season.

I would like to get my ride going as well. Missed last season and now I am missing this season. Strange.
