Well, it's not so bad really. It is very hard on the rear brake discs and pads. But the engine and trans can take that kind of load for that period of time without a problem as long as everything is in good mechanical condition.

might be a stupid question, but how do you do a burnout in a car with auto transmission? just put it in D and hit the gas?

Left foot on the brake, to make the front brakes hold the car. Step on the gas with right foot, overcoming the rear brakes holding the wheels. That's why it is so hard on rear brakes.

GUYS, it is real hard on the TC, to do a powerbrake. Granted a few times won't kill it, but then again, it's not good for it either.

when I do a brake stand, I start out in first and shift into 2nd and usaully keep it there then left off. If I do a long burn out I will go into D. If you only use 1st and 2nd gear it will make more smoke. On a lot of cars if you go into D or OD it will start to BOG.

How do you do a burnout in a standard car? I'm curious, cuz I did them in my auto before, but never in the standard...

Would you just drop the clutch and then put your foot on the brake?

Sweet!!! :hail: I luv a good burnout, granted its not real good for your car but its fun.
I had a 57 Holden with a worked 327 & I fitted a proportioning valve on the rear brake lines. It cut them off almost totally.

Isn't it possible to catch your tires on fire? I think I heard a story about that once. It seems possible.

Looks sweet.. like was said earlier, cuz it's not my car.

I love a good burnout just as much as the next person, but I think doing a 40 sec burnout (or 1 minute plus...) would make me nervous.

easy,...its called heel toe, its kinda hard to do the first time...

take your left foot and place it on the clutch all the way down..(here is where heel toe comes in) put your toe on the very bottom right of the brake and put your heel firmly on the gas you should be at about 2-3000 rpm...now take your foot off the clutch while keeping heel toe but as soon as you can put your left foot on the brake and keep your right on the gas and keep it going as a brake burn...

thats the best way ive found to do it..(in rear wheel drives anyways
