How many cans of spray paint?

Hey guys, about how many cans of spray paint would it take to primer my car?? '90 RS.. the tall cans at AutoZone.. Thinkin' bout just primering the whole thing. Can't seem to get the damned colours to match up. Get one white, and it's too dark, get another # white and it's too light

I wouldnt use spray paint to do that. Id invest in a spray gun and do it that way. If your planning on painting the car your self that is.

Sheeit son, I spray paint here and there whenever the paint gets dull, It only took two cans for the hood and 6 for most of the rest of the car (excluding doors and roof)... some people have insulted me in the past for doing so, but with a few coats of clearcoat, from 5 feet you can't really tell...

I only do it because I can't afford the paint job I want right now... helps ward off rust.

You should get a spray gun though if you plan to do the final paint job... it will be better for the environment and it will look a lot better.

well... if i wasn't gonna use spray paint to primer it, then what would i use? i have like 20 little bottles of testor's model paint (but that's for extreme detailing for interior ;0) the places i've touched up on it already actually look decent, especially considering the fact that i haven't sanded them since i painted... they're even shiney!!

Sorry man but I wouldn't even consider using spray cans to prime a car. most of them R sh#t anyway! I've repainted a dozen cars & there is no way I'd can them. You'd be better off to hire a gun & compressor.

I should have noted that in my previous post too about using a compresssor and gun,but what other alternative do ya have when you don't have those items or know no one to have them?Don't do it at all?If I could have afford it at the time(rented or buy them) I would have used an air compresssor and gun but couldn't.I needed the money for the paint shop and other things for the car.

Well primer might be different cause he painted a blue car white. That takes more paint.
