Cleaning up tail lights
Cleaning up tail lights
I have someone who might sell me some 91-92 taillights but he says they have lots of water spots on them, no cracks though.
Can they be cleaned up? I asked him for some pictures but I havent recieved them yet. I just want to know how damaged a tail lense can get from water, I dont see how some 3M plastic polish couldnt help it out.

I don't see a problem, just follow the polishing steps that have been on here before. I did mine and turned out great.

Mark, how do you feel about your tail lights now anyway? I polished mine, then picked up a set of GTS blackouts that I'll probably put on after it's painted... which do you like now that you've had time to let the polished ones grow on u?

I'm stickin with the polished look. I liked the blackout too, but then I had to worry about them bein stolen, flyin off. I think it looks good either way. Honestly, if I had a pair layin around, I wouldn't put them on.

These r mine polished vs unpolished, not sure if u wanted camaro or firebird. Just picked up that blue magic plexiglass cleaner....
Blackouts
Something to think about:
Camaro's are the most expensive of the blackouts because they have the most plastic (they're the biggest), and they wrap around. So don't lose them.
When you put them on get some good 3m double stick tape (I got the 1'' squares) and put them on the very tip that wraps around... this is where wind will catch the blackouts and rip them off on the highway. I also put the double stick tape on the tops where they rest on the trunk, and on the bottom corners for good measure.
True story: I was flagged down one day on the highway and a guy told me my blackout flew off. I was going home from work, was in a suit, and walked about a mile and a half looking for the stupid thing.
Next day on my way to work I saw it on the other side of the road on the island. Made a u-turn at next exit, went over, and got it. Had a bunch of scratches on it but was still in 1 piece!!!
