i own a 83 berlinetta, its that crappy brown color but its still in good condition for its age and not being repainted. anyway it has the poo brown matching interrior too. i really want to get it painted a new color but what would look good and still match with the interior? i was thinking sort of a flat gold color. i'de post a pic but my scanner doesnt work with XP, grr! thanks alot
oh and something else, how much does it cost to completly put in new interrior? not the vinyl stuff but just the carpet and seat covers, maybe i could paint and replace the interrior if its not to expensive

I'd go white. I've always been a sucker for white anyway. As for the interior. I can imagine you'd be talking some serious $$$$'s unless you've got really good connections.

It's not that expensive to do the interrior.
There are tons of mods you can do.
I cant tell you how many different mods people have posted on these boards.
There are just so many you can do, and the prices range from person to person, and place to place.

The interior isn't too bad to restore. If all the plastic peices are in good condition. All you'd need to make it look new is:
Carpet - $220
Headliner - $150
Sunvisors - $70
Sail Panels - $50
4th Gen seats - $300 - 600
and if you want to change the color you might be able to find a set of interior panels for cheap at the junkyard.
New console peices and buttons make it look brand new. They can be had from GMPartsdirect.com for a lot less then what you would pay to get them from the thirdgenresource or a similar company.
I attached a pic of my interior. It has used plastic panels, door panels. New carpet, floor mats, headliner, sunvisors, sailpanels, console lid, shifter plate, buttons, door trim, brake and gas pedals, turn signal lever, shifter handle, dome light lense and seats from a 93 Firebird.
The headliner and sunvisors are actually for sale because the interior went into an 87 Z with t-tops instead.

You could probably get away with painting it:
1) White - probably the BEST color to paint it so it won't clash with the interior.
2) Silver - I think that would look OK too.
3) Gold - Gold/brown looks OK together
4) Gunmetal gray - Borderline OK but I think it would work.
5) Any color, as long as you change your interior. Changing the interior color is not that hard, just maybe a little time consuming.

Really i know what color you are talking about ( i saw an 83 z28 with the same color interior) and it looks reallly good with a black paint job. A white paint job would look pretty decent as well and if you got just the right color red would probably look nice.
wow that was alot of good suggestions, anyway my scanner is an Adara Starlight 2 and i didnt see any model number on it, my mom got it from QVC or some junky place like that. i noticed this morning that my hood is starting to get foggy and white, i took off the hood insulation thingy about a month ago but it sorta looks more like oxidation, would oxidation appear after only a few weeks of not washing? i really hope that its not overheating, that would royall suck.
