My custom Z28

If I bought a thirdgen Z28, this is how I would customize it.

Is that a targa top? If so, have fun.........

Looks like some custom fenders and a SS hood would be close enough in real life......

Not too bad I guess, but I don't care for the thing on the rear hatch.

I think it looks great. Some definate GT styling in there. Go for it man!! The thing that I dont understand is that you can draw it and everyone is cool but as soon as someone tries it in real life everyone gives him a hard time. Will never understand you guys ....

Most of them have no money to do what they want so they criticize, it is as simple as that. Not saying anyone on this particular thread, but there are a ton of wanabies on the site just looking to get the last word in saying what is cool in their own little mind! Don't sing it, bring it! I say if you ever get that thing together, good for you! It does not have that rice appeal but it does look like it would be a newer car. I think it looks nice and modern!

I love the stock look of 91-92 Z28s, but everyone seems to have them. I wanted something that was a bit different to set me apart from everyone else.

I changed the front end a little bit with a bridge going over the top of the headlight pockets to make the taillights look slimmer.

I used a highrise spoiler, but took of the middle supports, lowered it, and rounded it off.

I applied a fiberglass hatch to lighten it up a little more in addition to the vented scoop hood.

I made the taillights rounder with 4th gen TA style tails, but still keeping the Camaro taillight look.

I think some of these things could be done in real life. One thing I would definately do is get clear headlight covers for a more aerodynamic look, and wheels. After all, the 91-92 Zs look pretty darn good in stock form.

i think it looks pretty good. its nothing to radical, mostly just a couple of rounded edges here and there. the wing's not bad, and appears to be lower then the hi rise (i still like the 88? spoiler they used for one year best). not a bad job at all

And please explain how that makes them any worse than people that criticize those of us that appreciate vehicles that look stock?

When I designed it, I tried to make it realistically possible to do without spending an enormous amount of cash. The custom taillights and targa hatch are definately out, but the front end mod, wheels, hood, and spoiler are definately something I might be able to afford to do. Of course if my Z28 looked like that I would definately have to back it up with some insane power.

Where would you get that hood? The front end could be done easily as well as the side skirts! The rear bumper is "trick" and could also be done with the stock 91-92 style, and so can the spoiler. The hatch, all you have to do is lay the money out for one. The vents could be incorporated into the fenders and the mirrors i am sure you could buy and make them fit. Or you could always go with the C5 style mirrors, they look pretty badass! So where would you get the hood?

Oh yeah, i would reather put the money into that project than the one that EVO company is selling for $8k, yeah right! That is such a rip. I like the look of the rears on that kit, but the front looks like a new eclipse. And once you open the door it still looks like a stock thirdgen inside, well almost! That "concept" car you just drew up wouldn't cost half of that to make, and i think it looks better.

i think it looks cool as hell...there is nothing wrong with customizing any car. i think of it more as an art than anything. thats why it pisses me off when the man trys to make things illegal like blue license plate lights or any other allteration.

Nah, I meant the notchback. I wasn't lookin closely, I thought it still had a hatch and they put this covering over it, cause I've seen a 4th Gen up here with a similar thing, and looks stupid.

Not really a criticism of your design, but...

I just wanted to tell you that drawing the car over photo wheels is quite possibly the greatest idea that I failed to come up with myself. I'm a big fan of drawing cars, but have always really struggled with drawing wheels/tires, especially on those isometric type angled shots. Rockin' drawing.

Drawing wheels at a perspective is not hard, but very time consuming to get it to look right. It was easier to photoshop the real wheels. I also used real photos of the glass, headlights, and interior as well. Photoshopping deep wish wheels is kind of hard too for the wheel in the background.

This really smells like alot of rice. But if you like it just go ahead and do it. Im not driving it so its up to you do customize your car. But think again before you go ahead and do it.

Rice is not running 11's on street tires so get lost! Buy an f-body and then talk smack. I think everything in the drawing complements eachother so that is why i like it! Nothing sticks out of place like a 4ft aluminum wing.

The hood is nothing more than a fiberglass cowl with a scoop and two side vents. I would have to do some custom molding to the hood. This Asian gang near my neighborhood can do wonders with fiberglassing. What is unusual is that they love to trick out old school cars, I mean early 80s and 70s like those Datsun 510s. They hate rice too. Thier rides are customized, which is where I got the inspiration for the hood.

The fenders look close to the styling of the second gen. You could look at them to see if you could cut the vents out to work. Nice thought. If you decide to do a mass production, make it a little cheaper than 8K please!!!!!

Can I put in my 2 cents?

I think it's a little overdone. And I mean that in the best way. I LOVE the GFX...especially the front. The hood is cool too. Kinda like the ultraZ hood. I just don't like all the little things like the mirrors and the side vents on the hood and fenders etc. Keep it subtle in my opinion...I'd kinda like to see just the GFX with a SS hood, everything else stock. ...maybe some zr1/SS rims

Good job though...I like it!

I like it. I think the front end kind of looks like a 300ZX but I like the looks of the 300ZX. I dont like the hatch and that is the only thing I dont like about it.
And I agree with the ones saying it isnt rice if you are putting up nice numbers. Rice is putting all of your money into looking fast and never actually achieving it.

Just because you find it tasteful doesn't mean everyone else has to. I think it is a bit overdone, I wouldn't drive it, but if someone else wants to I don't have a problem with it. And I also think that, speed or power isn't something to justify poor looks.

I wasn't saying that everyone should.I just meant that it isn't rice,it's just not in everyone's better taste apparently.

I know it was overdone, which was kind of the point since it is just a drawing. It's just a "what if" concept. I started out with a regular looking 91 Z28, but I could not resist the urge to make it more aggressive. This Camaro is one of the most subtle car drawings I have ever done. The rest of them would probably outrage many on this board. I like my cars low, mean, and aggressive.

I won't lie to you guys, I do like some of those ***** front ends. Unfortunately the actually good looking designs get a bad rap because they end up on a Civic or some other FF drive car. The only FF cars I like VWs, except the new beetle.
