Guess what I have pics of...

...My Engine, shouldnt be long now!

Should be in the car in 1-2 weeks. Im getting really excited after 5 months of the car being off the road. I missed my entire show season from the guy with the 383 screwing me around. Bought a new stock 350 shortblock, took out the cam, put mine in, re-did all the seals in my heads, and put the LT1 intake on. So its really all a brand new engine

Cant wait, Soon I can post ***** all my pics again!

Heres another shot!

I had a really good weekend, went to my dads place and we assembled everything except the shortblock ...heads, lifters, intake, blah blah blah.

I've always thought red was a better color than chevy orange. I acutally painted mine {gulp} Ford Red. It was the brightest red engine paint they had at the time and have been sticking with it ever since

Do you have plans on polishing up the throttle body?

Should make 300HP I would assume. The intake will not make horsepower, just move it up in the RPM range.

looking good. Keep us informed about the install.

Are you going to custom burn a chip for your new setup?

I have a chip from john that sells the lt1 intake to take advantage of the intake and get rid of the EGR, so its not custom burnt but its better then the Jet or hypertech sh** out there. I'll get something cutom burnt later.

Well if you figure most LT1 were underater at 275 to 285 cat back and headers were getting people above 300 then you add your cam. I am thinking with roller rockers and better heads you could push 400hp.

yeah Im gonna do something with it eventually. Im gonna clean it up atleast. But after a 5 month engine swap that was supposed to be 3 weeks ...Im not worried to to much about my throttle body.

Some day I'll probobly replace it with a 52mm holley one maybe.

You guys are all optimists....

I said 300HP knowing that it would exceed that estimate. You guys saying 350-450HP are setting this poor guy up for disappointment.

I would much rather make my estimate low and have him extatic when he see's that number exceeded than shoot him a huge number only to be disappointed by the outcome.

Did you guys look at the cam specs? Its smaller than a ZZ3 cam... It won't be making more than 350HP if you ask me.

86FyrBrd, do you know what you used to paint the LT1 intake or do you know what that guy that you bought it from used on it? I want to do my miniram before i put it in the car. I got quotes for over $250 to powdercoat it! If anyone has used paint on an intake and it has held up, could you point me in the right direction please. I have a paint gun and compressor if i have to use that. Any help would be great. Oh yeah, if it matters i would like to get it red, yeah, yeah, yeah, just like an LT4! 86FyrBrd, that really looks good. I am sure that 5 month wait will be worth it soon! I am hoping for a few weeks for mine to atleast be running! good luck with it.

I just used the Plasti-Cote Engine Enamel Fast Dry Resists Heat up to 500 degrees stuff.

Comes in a bottle that is shiny, almost chrome, says "Engine Enamel" big in red on it. Cap is color of the paint. I got it at Pep-Boys

It runs really easy, its unavoidable, but you dont notice it when its dry

My body shop is actually putting it in for me, since I dont have the necessary tools, hoists, and room to do it. Might be done by tomarrow actually. I dropped it off this morning to them and its all ready to be put into place now, but then all the sensors and air tubes and everything need to be put into place. I skipped class today, its college so it dont really matter, so I could run and get a few lil parts that I needed.

CANT WAIT

How much are you paying the body shop? I installed mine for about 70 bucks. That covered renting a $20 host, $25 oil, $5cat liter to clean the oil spilled in the apartments parking lot hehe.... Oh yeah the $20 Burgerking and beer.

>Oh yeah thats right you do have to install that computer and all of its bells and wissels. I like your setup and all but I would have ditched the computer. It gives more problems then its worth.

If you're gonna use a spray bomb, at least get the trigger cap to paint with. They make for a much more even spray pattern and help you control the paint a little better.
