confusion about wheel adaptors

I've read many post about wheel adaptors, and the more I read, the more confused I get. I see people using adaptors from 1 inch to 2 .5 inch adaptors. What is the correct size adaptor to use with a 4th gen 16 X 8 Trans Am wheel going on a 87 Trans Am with a drum brake rear ? Should the front adaptors be different than the rear?

If I remember correctly I happilly used 1.25" in the rear

and 2.25" on the front.

Some people are using 2" all around.

Another option for the rear, is to get a 4th gen rear, and not use any spacers at all for the rear. Thats what I have done (did the spacers first, the swapped the rear) I got my 3.42 posi disc rear for $300. thats pretty close to the price of 4 spacers.

Hope I helped.

to get perfect thirdgen backspacing and offset (for 16" wheels) on fourthgen 16x8 wheels, you would need 2.15" spacers front, and 1.5" spacers rear. With a drum rear, you'd actually need more like a 1.65" spacer rear, since there is a thin spacer when using 16" wheels on a drum rear from the factory on thirdgens.

I'm running 2" all around, and i think it looks good that way.

I'd recommend the 2" all around or just swapping to a fourthgen rear setup since you do have drums in back.

Thanks for the quick replies. Any one have any 2" adapters they would like to sell for a modest price?
