that sucks

That sucks,

Its VERY easy to get into these cars,
I acciedently locked my keys in my car with it turned off /w my stereo playing lol.
I took a rod about 8" long that has a little J at the bottem, put it inbetween the door and glass, right by the keyhole hooked it on some leaver and pulled up and it was unlocked lol, took less than 1 min.

Alarms are good ideas on these cars.
I need to invest in one, soon.

That makes shaved door handles worth the expense. I never keep my cds and stuff in the car. I leave my faceplate in the car though, but no criminal would be smart enough to find it.

The first thing I did when I bought my 'vert was take it and get an alarm installed. Best $350 I spent. Someone tried messing with my top and it went off! Wish I had the little pager thing though!!

never ever get those pager alarm things. they are terrible. If it rains really hard out the pager will go off and it is really annoying. Unless u can turn the sensitivty or some **** down when its bad weather out.

If those *** bitches would have stolen my car i would have jumped off a bridge and killed myself. That car is my life, although it still needs some small work, like very small, i think of it as my girlfriend. Speaking of which, i wonder what i should name it. any of you name your cars?

if there is anyone i hate, its people that break into cars, or key cars for the hell of it. I want one of those phillipeno car alars where swords swing at thier feet if they **** around with your door for a certain period of time. I saw in a magazine once, someone put flame throws that shot out the sides as his alarm. that would be nice.

My Bird has straight pipes or pipe and it sounds nasty. Before i gutted the cat it wasn't bad but after with no cat or muffler it sounds embarassing.

suppose you would install shaved door handles..
that wouldnt help much either..
How do you open the shaved handled door, with a
remote.. and the signal can be copied..
though they'd have to be equiped 4 that..

just a thought

Not always... hidden buttons (can be found easy though) reed switch placed somewhere when a magnet passes over, it pops the door open would be a bit better. How many people carry magnets around with them? hehe I've got a 500 dollar alarm sitting in my room ready to install. Just costs 600 bucks to install the damn thing

When the bastards broke in to my car they ripped out the lock. Then they started to rip apart my steerin colum to steal the car, but they didnt have the chip in the key for it to start so the just messed up the inside and stole my head unit. Bastards.

Also no one uses a slim jim any more...they are soooo 1990. When I locked my keys in my car this summer the guy had a little air bag he slipped between the window and the frame...pumped it up enough tha he could stick a pole in the window and hit the lock button. No damage whats so ever. I want one of them for christmas.

The kids whole stole my stuff werent so careful as they smashed my hatch in and grabbed what they could and my friends 91 Z28 who was parked next to mine at a local bowling alley(we both had alarms too go figure). I lost $800 or so and my friend $2500 but eventually they got careless and were caught and I still receive a $50-$60 check from them every now and again for restitution and its now what 5 years later....

very very very lol. its so true. I saw a civic the other day and it sounded like it had a cat stuck in its muffler. it was terrible. he thought he was tough so i blew the doors off him. it was cool.

I think it would be so cool to have shaved door handles. I just wouldnt know where to get someone to do it. I wish i knew how to do body work. that would be awesome.

also, whats this $500 alarm do??? why is it so much to install???

but still sorry about your car

Alarms are kind of useless unless you live in a quiet neighborhood where you would not normally hear them. If you live in an apartment complex or in the city, you hear car alarms going off 4 times an hour. Nobody even looks out their window anymore.

My old 2nd Gen T/A was broken into in my college apt. parking lot. They did it during a rainstorm when thunder was setting off everyones alarms anyway. I lost my Alpine head unit and radar detector and they broke my glovebox lock, ignition lock and bent my back seat in half trying to get to the amplifier in the trunk.

some advise, take the door panel off and install the custom made sheild that you just made around all the linkage in the door. it is farilly easy and i plan on doing it to my car pretty soon.

think there would be a market in that?

thanks

Let me tell you from my experiences as a professional auto repossessor.

Anything is steal-able. If you plan it right and know what you're doing you can take any car from anyone. Alarms are deterrents. A typical theif will go on to another car that doesn't have one, but someone who has their sites set on your car and knows what he's doing will get by an alarm system, even the ones with the pagers. I won't divuldge insider secrets here, but believe me when I say your car can be stolen.

I have a custom installed alarm, all the bells and whistles but it wasn't armed when my sytem was stolen right in front of my house.
THe kicker is that have cameras set up on the perimeter of the house and recorded the event. I could have came out and shot them, but is a stereo worth a life?
