hugger orange
what does everyone think about an 82 z28 painted hugger orange. Also with 2.5 cowl hood, and black racing stripes. Does anyone have any pics of cars this color. I am getting ready to get a new paint job for my hood so I need ideas.

that's just because it's a thirdgen..........so biased aren't we.
i think it's different for each application as well as type of orange. on the 91-92 i like the white........but i'm sure black would be just as sweet. now if you were going with white i think orange stripes are much better than black, now on the 69 the black is the only way to go. the last pic........well the orange is so nice that i don't think i would put stripes on it.
it's all preference.........go with what you want and you'll be happy. personally, i think stripes are a fad that you might get sick of. if anything have the car painted the base color you like planning for stripes later.........drive the car around for a while and make sure it's what you really want. once the stripes are there, they are there forever......
if i could do it my way, purely a point of view, i would have a hugger orange somewhat lightened up just a bit and have a gold pearl thrown over it much like the last pic.........this is a paint job that is quite custom yet should not cost any more than a normal color from a good paint shop. in just the right light it will sparkle indefinately.........but typically it will just have a nice orange color to it.
good luck in your choice.

I think the best way to do stripes is gost stripes. That way they are there, but don't stand out as much.

I think it'll look good. For the stripes, I'd go with Heritage, I think they look the best. But its up to you, its your car.

here is a picture of a members car with a nice orange and cowl.......i'm sure if he sees this he could give you some better pics.
i agree with the ghost stripes..........pic your design and have them add an extra layer of clear. extremely cheap and at the right angle you would have some sweet looking stripes.
anyway here are those pics.

huggar orange is a nice color, but is alot duller and darker than any of the pics above, even those paints use the base; they are no where close to the color your wanting....
be sure to get a sample sprayed before painting, i would try to get an old fender or some large size of metal to have painted so you know exactly what you want.
i think lamborghini orange is the closest your going to get from the third orange pic without having to go custom and worrying about custom mixing a batch everytime you need touchups.
custom paintjobs are sweet, but unless it's a trailer queen they are a major pain in the *** to keep up.
