Those with digital cameras.

I am planning on getting a digital camera because I see so many nice and "modified" cars down here in Southern Illinois, but I never have a camera at hand. I hear that the quality is not so good on some of them.

What kind of digital cameras do you guys use?

Is the quality good?

here's the run down..

for strictly internet use get a 1MP camera
for internet and printing out like 5x7 prints get a 2MP camera

for 35mm quality printouts get 3 and up MP.

I use a 1MP HP camera.

I would get no less than a 2 or 3mp Camara. You can get 3mp camaras for as cheap as $150. Also, 35mm film quality is more like 6mp than 3... Pro level Digicams cost upwards of $2000 and are 8mp or more.

I use this hubble lookn thing. Sony MVC-CD1000. I'm happy with the quality and it gets stored on mini disc's.

I'd go with something that produces bout 2.1 megapixels (1600x1200) or better. You dont need something that produces a high res unless your making posters etc...blah blahh. Look around; Im sure you'll come by a good deal.

I use a Kodak DC-260, 1.6mp camera. It is about 3-4 years old, was $900 new, newer and better ones cost less than a 1/3 of that.
99% of the pics on my site where taken with that camera.

If you know how to operate a digital camera, you can take some awesome pics, even at night,

Took these in Florida last year.

Yeah, I'm happy with it. The only thing I don't like is it take like 10secs once you take a pic before you can take another.

I'd also agree with the above to just get a 2MP, they're fairly cheap nowadays.

I got a kodak 3500 i think with 2.2m pixels 8megs of internal memory and a 32 meg card at target for 170 bucks. The camera has a 3x digital zoom. I love the camera and the picture quality is great. If money is no object then spend like 2grand on an slr camera with 6mega pixels.

I'd rather have my car blown for that price.

Thanks for all the advice. I don't mind paying a lot for a digital camera if the quality is superb, like those pictures of Florida. Since the price of electronics goes down so often, I think I will wait a little bit and see how low the prices get for a 6 MP or even 8 MP camera. I love the quality of a 35mm camera, but sometimes I don't feel like getting film, then waiting an hour to see my pictures. When it comes to photo quality, I am very, very demanding, almost ruthless.

Guess I'll post this here.

Hey this has nothing to do with the topic or what you said but I was checking out your avatar. That would be cool to have your car pop out on that road doing a fish tail. Do you have a vid cam or a reg cam with pix of your car. If you can get a vid or a sequence of pix of your car @ different angles to make it look Like it would be fishtailing. I would be able to put that in a .gif image so you can load it into your avatar. That would rock.

I'm at SIU right now so I don't have either. That would look cool though. I don't know if I want to put a picture of my car in the avatar in the condition that it is in right now.

Right now I am looking at 3MP digital cameras. I will probably go with a company that specializes in cameras like Cannon, Fuji, or Nikon. $400 is about all I want to pay though, maybe a little more. Quality photos are very important to important to me.

That's what I am planning on doing, but I can't take any pictures of my car until Saterday. I need to play around with the camera some more before shooting pics of my car.

I can't drink root beer? Besides, I don't drink, but when I do it is either aged wine or champaigne. I can't hold any alcohol since I weigh 115lbs. I pass out instantly.

Anyways, I going to take pics of my car at Lake Kinkaid in Murphysboro or Giant City Park in Illinois because I want a good background. It is really beautiful this time of year.

I got tired of it too, plus the fact that 1/3 of the pictures would not turn out so good and there is no way to determine what the picture looked like. At least with a dig. cam., if I don't like the picture, I can just delete it and shoot another. If I knew these digital cameras were so awesome, I would have bought one sooner.

Make sure you get one from a company that sells cameras as a major product, not a company that sells a ****load of medium grade electronics.

This is because the camera people take time into making good lenses, which is the most important part in taking a clear picture.

****ty electronics companies dont care enough to make good lenses.

An example is a Canon vs a Samsung

I have a Casio QV 3000EX 3.3 Megapixel camera.

Uses a Cannon Lens. It is friggen awesome. Though the nigh shots suffer. It was one of the first 3 megapixel cameras out. Check my website for shots.

Being light in weight just makes drinking more economical.

I just bought the same Camera! Have you had any luck shooting videos? I find that unless you have a ton of light, like outdoors, it comes out way too dark. Maybe I just have to play it some.

I found that out too. Since there is no sound I won't be using the video feature much. I'm still playing around with the settings. It really is a lot of fun.
