I have not gotten into any accident in my thirdgen. But the previous owner has and the car has been hit in THREE occasions when I wasn't even in the car.

i got in a wreck the first day i bought my IROC

 

Mine was parked on the road in front of a friend's house the first time it got hit...I wasn't there. Lady across the street backed into it with her dad's truck "Didn't realize how long the back end was"

The next time I was driving down McFarlan Blvd in Tuscaloosa (main drag, 3 or 4 lanes in either direction). Turned right out of a gas station behind two of my friends (one in a '92 RS). Stupid fat lady without insurance didn't see me (apparently) and pulled out of a used car dealership right into the same door that got backed into before!!! Then she tried to blame the accident on me when the cops got there!!! The used car dealership's owner saw the accident, thank the lord, and she was found to be at fault. Since she didn't have insurance and was impossible to contact, I didn't get a penny out of the deal.

 

3 accidents total in the camaro-

1st one was a hit and park next me accident at school, which was never completely settled just some paint marks.

2nd one happened oct 22, 2002 lady in a nissan sentra rear ended me at a red light, no major damage to car just stress crack on the bumper from the impact new bumer and paint 900$. injuries though, seat belt failed hit head on the roof shoulder and chest on steering.

3rd accident oct 30, 2002. 2 cars racing to a merger point i was not one of them i was braking for a stopped school bus the loser which was a girl driving a monte carlo failed to see me brake plowed into the back end of me knocking me into opposing traffic. the car was totalledrear bumper smashed, both quarter panels buckled and are now up against the wheel, smashed gas tank smashed door, smashed rear hatch and cracked brake light. back and neck injuries, and head injuries to both me and my gf. the monte carlo drove away with a small dent in her hood, WTF,

 

I've had dozens of very close calls. Inches one way or the other would have meant totalled cars and dead people. Somehow I & RAIF have escaped unscathed. Someone in heaven wants me to keep RAIF. If they didn't there have been ample oportunities to take him away.

Other then that I have had close to a dozen hit and runs in parking lots done to RAIF. I come out from work to find a dent or scratch. Now I park where I can see the car from my office.

The only accidents:
In 1990 I was in the school parking lot and this girl decided to cut thru a parking space to get in front of me in line as we left school. I looked down the lane and there was no car, but poof she appeared by cutting thru a vacant parking space and not looking first. though I had not witness, so it fell on me. Just scratched the paint on the frt bumper.

In 1992, I hydroplaned after hitting a dead possum. There was a light mist falling and I was going 45. RAIF spun and did 4 complete 360s before we dropped of the road and my frt smacked a tree. Mom was behind me in her car. Only bumper and hood damage.

In 1992, in the parking lot some guy rear ended me, no damage

in 1995, some guy pulled out in front of me and another guy on the hwy, in the rain, w/o his lights. We managed to avoided him, but hydroplaned. The guy hit a mailbox. I hit a street sign. It had a wood pole and I hit it with my pass side quarter panel. I got out and the sign was snapped in half and laying on the roof. Nasty dent in the quarter panel.

In 2001, I let Joe go get RAIF from across the street at the car show and drive over to the resturant. Well this guy decides he has to have this parking space and slaps his car into reverse w/o looking and backs right into RAIF'S nose. Totally spider webbed the paint.

 

I've been in several accidents with my RS.
Last one was three weeks after putting a brand new nose and air dam on it. Had the new nose painted before putting it on. Came out perfect. On my way to work, some lady in front of me stops on the crosswalk. After the light turns red, she backs up about three feet. Had room, no big deal, but she left it in reverse!
Back-up lights are still on. Light turns green. Slam! Backed into me hard.
So much for the new nose.
At least somebody else will be paying for it this time, but it's kind of a pain to replace.

I got into my first accident about a year ago. I was coming out of KC and didn't see the woman. Bushes along with it raining made it hard to see. So I clipped her.
Damage to her car about 900 dollars worth.

Mine. can't even tell.

But if you look at my car you can see why.

 

Had my 84 Z28 done (all redone 1992 Z28 style with ASCD Big Block Stinger Hood and lowered 2 inches)......for two days have over $7000.00 in it.....I was setting at a stop light and an 83 year old lady hit me in the rear. Totaled the whole car....and now I'm left with a permanent back injury.....now I have a black 1991 Z28 5.7 TPI (L98) getting ready to modify it...already have the ASCD SS ram air hood on it.....and waiting for a TON of money since I have a permanent back injury because of that old b*tch.

 

I've been in two accidents. One last week, one last year and BOTH in November.

1st one was (Friday) November 16, 2001. I was driving through a parking lot and an elderly woman threw her car into reverse and litterally plowed over the front end of my car and kept going backwards. She ended up crossing 6 lanes of traffic, totalled a truck, hit an Accord and totalled her own vehicle. Remember, she did all of this going backwards.

2nd was (Saturday) November 2, 2002. Heading home, stopped at a red light. I was in the left turn lane. Light turns green, I wait for traffic to pass...pull up about a foot then notice a Chevy S10 pick up (full sized here) not stopping for his light. The truck ran the light, slammed into an older Cougar and the Cougar 360'ed and hit me in the driver fender and front bumper.

I'm a little scared now wondering if there's going to be an accident every year in November for me.

 

After reading some of these post's I think there can only be one explanation for us getting into accidents: THE PEOPLE THAT HIT US AREN'T DRIVING THIRDGEN'S!!!

 

Ive got an 1986 Trans Am . I just had got the car it had new paint . The first week I had it some mother f$$$ backed in to the rear bumper while I was in a store and the quater panal on the passenger side bent in and now I have a pretty big dent to fix. It scraped a little paint of the back of the bumper . I was so pissed. I don't know who did it but who ever did can't drive and they must have been going pretty fast. I haven't got around to fix it yet .

I got into one where I was going like 75mph down the freeway in the pourning rain. With bald *** 245/50/16's. I hydroplanned into a freeway exit sign. And just recently last month a lady wasnt paying attention and see t boned my car. luckly she didnt damage the frame or anything. And the damage is only cosmetic and a few suspension parts. So tahnks to her insurance company I'm putting turbo and converting to a manual trans

 

Not a thirdgen, but I got hit in the rear (in my SS) while caravanning with some people in my car club. The girl two cars in front of me stopped for a light she shouldn't have, the car behind her stopped, I stopped, and the guy behind me, driving an old Maxima, smacked into the back of my car. It bent the tips on my stainless Random Technology catback and SPLIT the muffler case, and put a couple minor gouges in the bumper cover. His car had a bentup hood, broken grille, and two 3" holes in his bumpercover!

The same bumpercover got further scratched a couple months later, when I was backing out of Shannon's driveway for the first time at 3am and knocked over her neighbor's brick mailbox! I was concentrating on trying not to wake up the whole neighborhood (its kind of loud), and probably did anyway when I hit the mailbox.

 

I got into two accidents in two days in my 91 RS. I was in a four car pileup one day...just a few paint chips off the back bumper - no big deal. Then, the next night my idiot friend backed into my front end. That left me with no paint on half the front bumper and headlight cave. Again, no big deal, but I was still pi$$ed it had to happen twice within 48 hours . No major accidents yet (knock on wood).

 

first car 1988 iroc-z 5.7, lasted 5 months i wrecked it...

second car 1988 formula 350, bought 3 months after the wreck and then had this one on the road for 4 months and someone hits me and wrecks it!!

third thirdgrn info in the sig, lasted over 8 months still going strong yeah :hail: :lala:

 

3 accidents. One was a hit and run while I was shopping at the supermarket. Hit my rear quarter. $800. One time I bumped a state trooper Just a scuff on the front cover and a major scuff to my pride. No damage to the trooper car though And the last was the big one. A 10 point buck on a backroad in Georga. It bounced all down the drivers side, broke my mirror off with it's head. Talk about up-close and personal. I swear I could have counted the teeth in it's head. $1200 on that one. The most expensive deer I've ever killed. I quit the sport after that. Way too expensive.

only thing worth telling is my 120 MPH fishtail on a local freeway that damn near would have killed me.....was racing a 4gen lt1 on the freeway and i was going to split 2 cars and i got almost to them and the one on my right went to change lanes and so i yanked the wheel to the left and then almost hit the van that was next to me in the left lane so i yanked it back to the right and started fishtailing into the other lanes... and i had no power steering... scared the living **** out of me so i slowed down to bout 90 and just cruised

 

In 1986, I had an 83 Z28. I had the my license for 10 days when an 18 wheeler ran a yield sign and ran over the nose of the car. I saw he wasn't slowing, so I locked 'em up and went under the trailer. He was doing about 45 and I was doing 50 before braking. Good thing my neighbor was behind me. She testified in court that it wasn't my fault and that the truck never slowed. NJ State Police issued me the ticket saying that I'm 17 in a sports car, I must've been speeding.

Well in 5 years its not that bad...

I've rearended three people, minor damage on the nose (scuffed paint).

Roomate decides to back an 80's Caddy into the nose, it left a 1 inch tear in the nose and busted up the grille pretty good.

Latest one, I slid off the road going around a corner too fast, then hit a bush. Little F'er did this...

 

I had one in my 89 Trans Am. Lost control on a major interstate in Rochester, NY (I490) Hit black ice and went from the exit lane and slid across to the guardrail. I got broadsided by a small Mazda pickup truck and spun again and hit the guardrail.

Believe it or not the truck hit me prefectly in the door, not damaging the quarter or fender. When I spun and hit the guardrail I ripped up the quarter panel and tore the bumper

 

I've been in 2. The first I just plain wasn't paying attention while slowing for a red light. Lade in front stopped quickly and I hit her at like 5 or 10 MPH. Just a slight crack on the nose and chipped paint. That was on the RS.

In the IROC, I was driving in the rain and the car 2 in front of me made a quick turn. The car in front of me slowed down, I hit the brakes but slid right into her. Again, only 5 or 10 MPH and only scraped paint this time.

 

A bus turned right into me.

And some wetter backed into me...GRRRRR


Car is now normal...well.. somewhat

Honestly, I don't know how so many of you get into accidents. Maybe I am just lucky that I have never been in an accident, or maybe its just because of the way I drive. I drive slow. You can catch me doing 54 in a 55 zone. I guess accidents just happen and you guys just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I usually end up in the right place at the right time. I have been close to being in an accident though heres my story:




I was leaving Carbondale on route 13 and I was the last car of a pack. There was construction ahead which slowed down traffic to a hault. For some odd reason I left a car length between me and the car ahead of me when everyone else was an inch away from each other. I looked in my rearview mirror and noticed a truck comming up in the other lane pretty fast. Keep in mind we were not moving. I guess the truck thought that the cars were just slowing down, but he could not stop in time and tried to swerve in the gap that I had left. The truck hit the car in front of me and fish tailed and hit a car on the side me, which caused those cars to hit the cars in front ot them. 5 cars were damaged. My car was not even touched by incident.



It's too bad most of you are or were not lucky, which proves my point, bad things always happen to nice cars. I feel bad for you guys that got your car damaged, wrecked, or totaled when it was not your fault.

 

The only accient I got in was the second day after I bought my car. I was in an ally, about to turn right onto the road when some hanius b**ch rear ended me w/ a pick up. When I got out all she did was crack my right tail light (thank ***). I asked for her lincence, regestration, etc, but she didn't even have a license. Her boyfriend gave my $500 and asked me not to call the cops. ANAYWAY I got a new taillight for $150, and made $350. If it wasn't for my GF in the passangers seat I would of kicked there asses, and took the money though. I HATE PEOPLE WHO CANT DRIVE

I was on a two lane 40 mph road that went down to 25 because of construction closing one lane. Well just at the merge down to one lane a big cadillac and a blazer cut me off at about fifty miles per hour, since heaven forbid I was going the speed limit.. the caddy hits a tempo shortly after cutting me off.. the blazer tailgating the caddy drills him further crushing the hapless tempo and goes from 40 to 0 in about ten feet with its rear end lifting off the ground at impact.. I say a small prayer "Holy s**t!" and try to stop from going under the Blazer.. almost made it.. in my attempt to avoid the Blazer and get up on the shoulder the drivers side disappeared under it.. its tailpipe punching a hole in the grill and the spring perch riding up on the hood seperating the headlight from its mounts and putting a morse code line across my hood and drivers side fender - lifted the thing off the ground like a big jack- when it came out in the wash 1200 in damages to the T/A, the Caddy owner sued me for injuries and I was found 20% responsible for the accident, Caddy was never blamed.. Gave me an excuse to up to Baer brakes and get the car repainted though..

Heres my '87 after the other guy (********) was driving the wrong way on the freeway.

Check your seatbelts cuz i dont think mine locked-up. Hit head on steering wheel but no brain damage (that i know of).

but i was very impressed with how it held up in a HEAD-ON collision.

I myself have not been in any accidents, nor has my Z28 (as far as i know), but i did see one that, now that i think about it, was pretty funny This is what happened:

At my HS, there is a set of lights about 100ft to the side of the school, then you go straight and there is a yeild sign about a block away, were you can go right or straight. Anyway, there is this guy in front of me with this riced out Honda Civic. We both slow to look and keep going, but what i see him do was so funny (looking back now that is) that i cant help but laugh when i think about it. He slowed to look, no one is coming (so far, so good) so he mats the gas and slams on the e-brake while he is turning, lost control and went straight through a mailbox, through someone's lawn and shaved off his wing on the deck (the spoiler got wedged under a BBQ) and he just sorta stopped in the garden.

I "totaled" my IROC in February, after I'd had it only two weeks, and I had it restored.

 

Well where do I start.. I've been driving for about 4 years now.. In that time I have done the following:
1) Rolled an 88 VW Jetta about 3 times going 130 in a 40 zone. Ended up upside down 50 yards into a corn field.
2) Rear ended a 2 week old Honda Civic and did $6000 damage and wrote off the 89 Ford Escort winter beater I had in the process.
3) Rear ended mini van in the IROC going slow driver of mini van claimed she had whiplash but that was BS and never even went to court after I talked some sence into her.
4) I backed into my buddies stang. Did more damage to the 96 VW Jetta I was in but I paid him cash for all the damage I did to his stang.
5) Went flying off the road and into a forest then into a bolder in the IROC which is the most recent accident which wrote off my IROC.

Thats all Ive done. Please note these stories are all fiction and my insurance company didn't find out about one of them except the one I didn't make up which was that stupid civic incident which also got me a wreckless driving charge..

 

Damn that's approximately 48 Camaro related accidents...

 

Here's the rest .......the passenger side is pretty bad . An old couple pulled out in front of me at speed . This accident was pretty damn scary . Totally blows this car no longer exists . The back was pushed over so far that it woulda needed to be clipped so I parted it out down to a shell and sent the remains to the crusher

 

A month after I got the RS, I hit a '70 or '71 Ford F-100. It was really his fault, even though I was charged. He was speeding like a **** and I misjudged his speed and turned right into him. Over $3000 worth of damage. Had the front, passenger's side fender, and hood replaced, along with a couple headlights that flew on impact.

My dad was driving the GTA at the Books-A-Million parking lot and some stupid woman (who ended up being a friend of mine's mom ) backed into him. It caused about $1000 worth of damage. The nose had to be replaced if I remember correctly.

A few months ago me and my girlfriend (CamaroChick) were going to go to the beach. We were going to leave her house at about 6 AM. Her mom had to leave for work before we left and I was parked behind her. Well, it was dark and she didn't see my car and she backed into it with a '90 or '91 Caddy. Ouch. It had a trailer hitch too and that did some damage. I had my front end replaced again. It was about $1000 worth of damage.

Hopefully if it happens again my car will just be totalled out, before I put any more money into it! I would hate to put a million $$ into my car and then have it all smashed to hell.

 

this was my 89 camaro. Lady blew red light and t boned me about 5 months ago. But since then i got a 92 rs and did some mods.

 

Damn it!! That is one smashed in door!! Congratulations on your continued existance, you must be one the luckiest alive (or you wouldn't be). I've got some pretty good pics of a side impact I got in my '84 Cavalier I'll put up when I get home from work.

 

In the 3 years I've owned my car, I've been in 2 accidents. Neither of them my fault. Once, driving in the rain, some dumba$$ in an old POS Escort wasn't looking, turned and smashed right into my front DS fender. Big scrape, couldn't pay $500 deductible, used touch up paint on it. Actually not too bad now, you wouldn't really notice it unless you were looking for it.

Unrelated follow up to this...a month or so later, I was driving my other car, and witnessed the same idiot almost rear end a new Dodge Ram (locked up the wheels, swerved into the other lane, blew the red light) at a stoplight on a beautiful sunny day. Some people.

Second accident...About 3 F'in hours ago. I was driving, slowed down to let someone in front of me who was stuck behind a stalled bus blocking traffic in that lane. Girl behind me wasn't looking, and smacked into my rear bumper. Messed up the paint pretty good, pushed in the bumper a little.

So I was mad as hell, pulled over, got out of my car, ready to start yelling - but the particular girl that hit me was probably 18 - 19, and like smokin hot. There was no way I could stay mad, and raise hell like I wanted to once I saw her. You know how it is like when your dog pisses on the rug - you're mad at first, but can't stay angry for very long. So now I'm using this forum to vent, cause I couldn't when it happened. Sigh.
