illuminated tail lenses

is it just me or does more people feel this way....on the 91-92 t/a's that area between the lights were that red sticker probly isnt there anymore...does anyone wish they could light this area up?.....well i decided to do it...i took my lenses off and cut out the "pontiac"...i bought two sockets from gm and spliced them into the lights and brakes...so when i turned the lights on the "pontiac" would light up...and when i hit the brakes it would get brighter....so i hooked everything up and hit the brakes with the lights off and it lit up with the brake lights....i turned the lights on and it came on with the lights...i hit the brakes and pop i blew the fuse...i put a fuse in it and tried it again pop i blew another one....so i went back to work...i cut off the wire from the socket that goes to the brake lights...so it wouldnt get brighter when i hit the brakes...but only would lit up when i had the lights on...

i bought some clear epoxy and filled the spaces in the "pontiac" with it..and i bought some transparent red spraypaint and taped off around the edges and sprayed the paint over the clear epoxy..so during the day it would look red like the sticker but at night it would shine red....

when i first got it done i used some red tail light repair tape to go over the epoxy to make sure everything worked out and that it would look good when its lit up....after i determined it looked good on the car i took the lenses off and trimmed up the tape and put them back on...

now heres the bad part..it rained that night and the epoxy wasnt fully hardend and it totally fubard all my hard work...now theres this rock hard yellow **** all over my lenses and some dripped down onto my bumper...how do i get that epoxy off my lenses..i broke the "A" tryin to get all the epoxy out but im not worried about that because i know how im gonna fix that.....ill post pics in the morning cuz theres a lot of crap around my scanner that i have to deal with and i dont feel like doin ti right now...

it looked freakin awesome!! and when i get it all cleaned up im gonna have another go at it...i think im gonna have to sand the whole area down from reverse light to reverse light and paint it all gloss black then do it again...
what do u guys think? what should i use the get the remainder of the epoxy thats between the letters and on the surface?

sorry for the long winded post..but i almost feel embarressed beating a mustang cuz hell see the mess on my lights

later and thanks guy
Rob

I have done something similar:

I pulled off that middle piece and sanded it down on the inside. That took off all the black, and the silver bird and PONTIAC. I think printed out a 3rd gen screaming chicken and used scissors to cut it out. After it was cut out I put a layer of tape on the inside of the center piece. I layed the bird that I had cut out on top of the tape...and then put another layer of tape over the bird to hold it. Then I got my box cutter out and cut the bird out again. When I removed the bird and top layer of tape, it left the bottom layer of tape. That bottom layer had the bird outline cut into it from me tracing the bird with the box cutter. I pulled off all the tape, except the bird. I sprayed the whole inside black with about 8 coats. Then I pulled the bird of tape off and it left a clear outline of the bird. I sprayed the inside with about 3 coats of NiteShade and then stuck it back on my car. You can't even tell its there unless you have some light behind it. I have yet to wire the light in the back, but it'll happen soon enough.

I was going to try to get pics of my setup, but it started raining, i'll have to wait a while. I didn't realize that my tail lights were that different from yours.
