What's a safe product to use on paint to get rid of grime/dirt......
Ok here's my situation. My car is on jackstands. I looked at the NOT visible parts of the car such as the bottom of the groundeffects and I noticed alot of grime, especially on the side ground effects.
I would like to clean this **** off. However I don't have a waterhose around the car or nothing like this, so I'm wonder if there's something I could put in a spray bottle and spray/wipe on the car?
This stuff is very hard and I've tried washing it off and scrubbing it before with only failure. Any ideas?

lol no way... this is just too much dirt to take off with a measily claybar...
picture a 92z28 side ground effect. now picture the entire bottom covered in a 1-2 millimetre coat of grime caked on.

Yo dude; get a spray bottle and fill with diesel. Spray the area that is crudey and grimey. Let set for about 30 min. Remind you that it will smell but guarantee it to emulsify the road grime and tar build up. It may require additional spray, then soak a soft cloth(old tee shirt) and begin to rub gently till stuff begins to come off. I've detailed cars like this before and you might have to spray and let set longer, sometimes overnight. You'll begin to see the stuff make the gunk run and it come off. Once you have wiped it all off. I usually get a pan (oil drain pan) and soak my rag and keep areas sooping wet with pan under area I'm working. Eventually u begin to see shiney paint. After getting off just wipe down with clean cloth and wa-la, your done. The diesel will act as an inhibiter to other grime sorta like wax. When you do get a chance to wash it will come off easy with soap and water. Hope this helps.

wouldn't that damage the paint???
Yes it is oil based, so is the paint. I can't say about the varsol, I have used varsol at the plant at work but not in this application. Just my 2 cents of experience even though I'll be 40 in 9 days.

Ok, no sense in my try. I've only cleaned and detailed cars, trucks, semi's and boats since I was fifteen. I've asked every detailer in the business and the cheapest and safest stuff is good ole diesel. Of course now days it has less sulfur in it and that is what used to give that yellow look. That is also why it takes a little longer to work. But Try a small are and see. Unless someone else post something better. I know that my customers have not complained yet about how I get the grime off their rides as long as it shines when I'm thru. Hope you find what your looking for.

bit hard to answer without seeing it but what about very warm water with dish soap**** or car wash, rub it with a sponge then use "Plastic flywire" with the soapy water then wash with sponge again, that should do the trick but if you have some beadx add that as well coz thats the best stuff since sliced bread!

Tar remover will do the trick. Tar remover is a mild form of diesel which is a mild form of reg gas. All of those will work and just reapply your wax after washing the area. Don't chip at it as you may damage the paint. We use tar remover at the detail shop I work at all the time, even in the interior for stubborn carpet stains, glue from velco stickers, etc.

No makeup here.
You gotta resize your sig a little,
It's to big for my monitor.
It shouldn't be more than 600 in width...

what time is it in hawaii?
Everybody has an ftp program. It's called windows explorer. Just type ftp:// and the address and use it like a regular file manager. Login and password is under the file menu.
There's also a command prompt version. Type ftp at the command prompt.
Also, there's a lot worse stuff hitting and sticking to the underside of the car than diesel fuel. The stuff cleans great. Buy some Gunk Engine Brite (the non-foaming version) and spray it in a pan and compare it to another pan with diesel fuel in it.. Bet it looks and smells the same.
