How do you see your car,

Heh...refined cruiser it's not, since it's got squeaks n rattles all over the place, not to mention a stiff ride and plastic trim panels everywhere you look
. So, I'd be leaning more towards "muscle" car, even though it's not all that quick yet
. Workin on that though.

91-92 Formulas I think have the perfect combination of both, so I can't really vote on that one.

I've heard loads about creaks and rattles, but my car is quiet 99% of the time. ?!?
I think they can perform both rolls well, but the S/C tends to be more of a cruiser (I.M.H.O)

Well I cant compare my cars to Merc 500sl, Porche 928, Jag XJS V12, Etc ..... but I do think of it more as a Refined cruiser than a Brawney sportster / muscle (example - 454 chevelle, Charger R/T) mainly because of the suspension. I dont set my cars up to go fast straight. I want them to go fast around turns.

I think there needs to be another category!!!
Daily driver/beat to death/ brought back from the ragged edge
Examples: Plymouth Valiant, Dodge Aries, Ford Tempo etc.

A refined sportscar.....
It's refined in the fact it's comforable and spacious and fun to cruise in....
It looks like a sportscar...
The best of both worlds, which is why i own a 3rd Gen to being with.........

my car is an almost 20 year old car with 160k miles on it and its getting tired and lazy which is why Ive been debating on pulling it off the road and buying a newer third gen Z.

I welcome the views of anyone in a position to comment, but I have driven a 1985 Porche 928 - and was amazed how close it was to a V8 thirdgen in almost every way, driving position, power, performance, comfort, etc......
Ditto for the Jaguar, the V12 XJS is remarkably similar, even build quality was similar, if not worse. (Jaguar has some quality issues in the early 80's)
Merc, i'm just going by gut instinct, i've not driven a 500SL yet, every road test i've heard pits it against the porche and the jag, but i suspect the build will be a lot better.
BTW, against an IROC, believe it or not, both the Porche and Jag are (very slightly) slower.
Porche 928 0 - 60 7.8 secs.
Jag XJS V12 0 - 60 7.9 secs. Both sets of figures are for early 80's cars. Unfortunately, my other weak spot, the Maserati Bi Turbo is quicker by a clear second!

When they were brand new, I think the TPI models would be highly refined and cutting edge. But these days, and with how our cars are deteriorating. Muscle.

i see my car as more of a muscle car.
however, like zepher, i also see it as a ground version of a plane. i'm more along the lines of the F-15 Strike Eagle.
i had a controller that the handle was a replica of the stick from an F-15. it quit working, so i tore it apart, and i'm planning on using it for a shift ****, for something different

when my camaro was in one peice I took it up to a country highway that was just repaved, I put the hammer down on the maro, after I hit 140 mph that was fast enough for me, blew out a head gasket doing it, lol im on my 3rd motor and Im rebuilding it now to be supercharged. Ive really got to stop reving those 350s past 6000 rpm.

My car seems to be as lazy as I am. It definately doesn't qualify as muscle car because of my 2.8l. I think of my car as a beast that is too slow to attack or catch anybody because it is loud, isn't pretty to look at right now, and has barely enough power to move its own weight.

I want to keep my engine as a 2.8l. I want to see what it can do even though it will essentially be a waste of money putting any performance parts into it - I'm just curious. I use this car primarily as a cruizer, which it will always be.

the name says Grand Touring America.
she's not grand and I only drive her and I live in canada.
she's quick enough to beat my buddies 1990 tsi. she has a few rust holes and some more rust but all in all she's still alright.
just needs a lot of work.
muscle car is the right thing to call her.

DUDE, I've got that same controller! and mine did the same thing, it was crapping out before I left for school. I never thought about using it as a shift ***, that'd be pretty bad ***. Although I'm more fond of the F-16
