Will this work?

OK i have an 85 firebird right now that had some T/a tails on it stock but the centerpice got smashed to hell so i got some 82 firebird tails the red louvered ones. Im not really gonna keep this car long so i dont want to put much more money into it. I want the look of the smoked 84 T/a taillights without having to buy them so i was thinking, that nightshade spray , if i covered up the refelctor part and the big bird and sprayed the lights with the nightshade will the red and white lights still shine through? will it still be legal? thanks

Yup it should work. When you spray on niteshade, your light look black when they're off, and when you turn on your lights, the natural color shines through. My brother used it on his truck, and the lights didn't look completely black, just really dark, and they looked normal at night when his light were on. Hope this helps.

Oh, and about being legal, you'll have to check the laws where you live, most places won't hassle you about it though.

Dunno bout you guys, but where i live any paint on your tail lights is illegal, now mind you its rare that a cop calls you on it, sorta like my tinted front windows, but you could get a ticket for it... just a warning

Take them apart. I sprayed one of my taillights on the outside and one on the inside. The one sprayed on the inside still looks good (and you can always polish the plastic) whereas the one sprayed on the outside looked like @ss, so I ended up taking the paint off.

Just my two cents.

definitely do the inside....when you spray the outside, it looks like flat spraypaint.

Its ok for small lenses, but not large ones.
