If its already done i would leave it! I mean, if they sprayed paint and clear on it i would thik that there are a couple of spots that are painted to the hood, meaning, if you were to take it off it might crack the rest of the paint. I don't know though, i do not know what it looks like. They are removed from under the hood by bolts, not sure what size. Any pictures?

O_o wha?? After you TOLD them NOT to paint the things.....they....did it anyway is that correct?

TAKE IT BACK! THEY CAN REDO THE DARN THING! Why should you pay for something you ASKED them not to do!?

Take it back and have them fix it for FREE.

yeah, you might get free louvers out of the deal, if they don't feel like removing that paint, i hope they don't try to sand it off. Chemical Paint Stripper would work...i think.....or would that **** up the plastic
?

yeah, paint stripper would not be a good idea. I would take it back and make them fix it. If they screw up the hood, they get to repaint it.

Was this someone you know, or just some body shop?

that is pretty dumb. any reputable shop should stand behind their work, and repair it if you aren't satisfied, at no additional charge.

i would not suggest a chemical stripper like that, i'm pretty sure they'll eat plastic....

I've been looking at it the last couple of days and I'm just going to leave it.Its starting to look good, because the plastic was worn and faded.I'll try to post some pics soon.Oh by the way it was a earl scheib job,I know,I know, but didn't have the $$$ for a $2k job yet and couldn't stand the multi-color primer that was on it.In a couple a years I'll get it done right, its my daily driver right now. Thanks

I was about to ask you if it was a Sch**b job. I had mine painted by them before...

It was rediculous.

They screwed up the stripes, they painted it all wrong, they consistently didn't do what I asked them to do.

Then my car got stolen from their shop.

After it was retrieved, they seemed to be willing to redo it, but after the old guys left the job, they said they didn't do stripes or wet sanding. I told them 'well you do now, because I paid for it.'
All they said was I would have to track down the people who used to work there (the manager!!) and get even with him. I said I don't think so, and that they were gonna pay for every red cent I had paid them over the past 2 years because of the time and mental anguish I had been going through with them. Would you believe I typed up a list of things that I wanted my car to have done so they wouldn't be able to mess it up again and they didn't even look at it???

After they laughed me off and said there was no way I was gonna get anything from them, they changed their story when my attorney got in contact with them.

Needless to say, I got EVERY penny I spent (were talking 3 redo paint jobs and other custom work!!!) as well as $300 for my time spent on this whole thing in addition to their insurance covering the cost to get my car back to what it was after they recovered it.

The moral of the story is: don't let them get away with anything! I know every shop is different, but I spoke with the big wigs at corporate and they werent very helpful either! Good luck to you though.

Hey 89IROCZZ4 I remember reading that post about your run in with "Earl Sclob",but i live like 2 blocks away, the paint came out pretty darn nice for the Pro-3,3 coats paint,2 clear coats, and the UV protectent for $442.

congrats! I hope the best for you. IMHO, the vents may actually look better painted - where are the pictures?

thats crap that they did it after you told them not to. id take it back just to make a point

but on the other hand, why didnt you want them painted in the first place? i debated long and hard over weather or not i should paint mine and then my friend got his 85 z28 done with the louvers and grille and i liked it so much i decided that when i get mine painted that will be done too. as long as they clearcoat it it looks pretty good.

the reason i didn't want them painted was because the only 2 camaros I'd ever seen with painted hood vents were a red and white one and I didn't like the way they looked, but on my car it looks ok because the vents are black anyway, its grown on me,but I still only like them painted on black cars.
