In my opinion, i think louvers were the most ugly thing that was put on a car. When I first got my car it had louvers, i took them off first thing and they have been sitting in my garage since.

Like said above, they have to look right on a certain car. If you decide to get them, do not get them from JC Whitney! The ones i got were around $2-300 and they were junk. Very cheap plastic and the description said they were going to be metal. I had placed them on there and they looked like crap. so i returned them. Although, from time to time i'll see a nice car with them on it. Rarely though! good luck

I had my car repainted and the louvers repowdercoated, but cant bring myself to put them back on. My wife likes them and they do keep the car cooler, but it is more important to look cool than to be cool ----lol.

Our old Camaro (almost the same color as Scott's) looked pretty good with them, but when I got my Camaro they came off before I ever even started the engine. We put them on my grandpa's golf cart--bitchin!

They were on my white car when I first bought it, and promptly were the first item to come OFF of it. I def agree though that they work on some cars like Scott's, and there's also a black and gold 85 TA on the boards which I think looks good with them.

It depends on the car. there is a yellow IROC that just moved around my house. He has the wrap around ones with a complete bra in the front. It looks good.

But personally I don't really like them. give me the 5% tint in the back. Keeps the car just as cool and it looks good.

I remember when I got a bra for free. Put it on my Camaro. It lasted 3 days. Now it sits in my garage never to be used again because after I put it on I decided it didn't look right. You need to do the same. Put them on and see if you like it. If you do keep 'em, if not get rid of "em.

i took the louvers off of my '87 SC to repaint them and put them on my '91 RS, but i'm not too sure about doing it. i repainted them about 5 months ago and have been sitting there ever since. so when i get around to it, i'm either going to put them on or sell them.

I think they look ok on some cars... like mine. I have a black / gold 87 Iroc. I have the louvers just gotta paint them, put them on and see how they look. What would look better painted gloss black to match the body or more of a satin finish ?

Louvers=80's=Out of style. Plus they trap leaves & make the window get very dirty that you have to clean them all the time.

I don't understand this crap about certain things, especially louvers, being so 80ish. THE CARS ARE FROM THE 80's PEOPLE!!!

The rallye rims found on the 67-69 Camaros are so 60ish, so it's a good thing nobody still has them on their cars, huh! That has got to be the dumbest comment I've heard from people on this board. Buy a new car if you don't like the style of the 80's. It leaves more for those of us that appreciate the style.

I think they look great, but as you can see from the posts, I'm in the vast minority. Because of my audio system, I don't want people to easily see through my hatch window, and I have yet to find a tint job on a thirdgen hatch that doesn't look like a 5 year old did it.

I also think that it just happens to look good on an 80s car. They were all the rage in the 80s, and it goes with an IROC or a Trans Am like butter on bread.

Seems to be a good amount of style consultants here.

They keep the heat and the thieves out while preserving the interior.

Ill leave mine on. I don't think I get too many points deducted in shows for having them.

Most tint jobs I have seen look like doo doo (except for my brother's 2nd gen Z-28, he removed the window and had it done right).

I personally think they look great on the cars I've seen. Makes me want to try them out on my car, but I don't know if they'll look as good.

How much do these things sell for used? And, how much trouble is it to mail? (Will it break easily?)

I used to love louvers and I got some for my car a year ago. Guess how long I had them on until I took them off for good - 3 whole months. They make the window dirtier, rattle, cut vision, look horrible, get bent, and the list goes on. Mine ended up looking so bad that I just threw them in the trash. The look more like something on a house than a car.

The louvers are just too large for our windows to look good. Pluse they weighed 27 lbs. making the already heavy window even heavier. I prefer the more aerodynamic look thank you.

The only louvers that look good are the ones that are embedded in a targa rear like on the new Lamborghinni, Lancia Stratos, and the BMW M1. Those are the only cars that make louvers look good.

When I see louvers from the side, all I can think about is armadillos.

They will fit any third gen 82-92. Except for '86 which had the exterior third brake light.

I like them, but they have been on the car since it was new. I'd like to think I have one of the IROC's that look good with louvers. My only complaint is that they are noisy at speeds over 130mph.
It is an '80's car, so the style fits okay with me. I don't want to look like everyone else who has F-bodies without louvers.

I had louvers on my car when I bought it. Took me about two weeks to decide whether or not to keep them. Finally took them off because they rattled too much.

******* mod.. IMO Maybe they would be useful in the days before window tinting but in this day and age they are useless. They do look good on some cars though.

Well, you just showed your intelligence level! You must be the ******* to make a stupid statement like that. They are not useless and just because you don't like them for whatever reason, doesn't make the people that own them a *******. Maybe you're trailer trash! How do you like it, jackass!!!

Look, IMO - means in my Opinion.. make of it what you will... I will not argue to be a fact because its not. I did not say that "if you have louvers on your ride, your a *******". I was merely referring to the fact that Camaro's are often attributed to rednecks, a stereotype I cannot stand. You might make note that I said "some cars look good with them", but I do not believe all do. Now I think it shows your intelligence level to retort in the manner you did on that which was merely an opinion. No offense was intended, take my comments for what they say and nothing more.

oh.. and actually.. no.. I am neither a "*******" or trailer trash...this is me dude..

The ******, was also a popular trend of the 80's... would you defend it with as much conviction? People change, as do cars. Not only that, third gens are not classics yet, maybe some of us want our cars to be different. Give it another 30 years and I am sure that you will be right, and we will be seeking the parts we chucked for the sake of restoration. Now is not that time however.

Perhaps I should say.. IBTL... flame war coming im sure..

That IROC looks pretty sweet with it. I don't like the way they look on SC's and berlinetta's i've seen with it. Also looks weird on cars without GFX
