Help me make a decision 1988 Formula, should i buy it ???

Ok, i met up with this guy who has been trying to sell his 1988 firebird formula for about 8 weeks now. (no ads, just word of mouth) I told him $300 jokinly and he accepted.

I'd like some advice on whether this is a good deal. It has 123,000 miles on a 305 TBI, with a 700r4. Runs great, but he parked it because one of the rear brake lines rusted out. the interior is pretty torn up too. Kids have vandalized it at his house, the tailights are broken, they've sat on the hood, dented the front right fender and slit the 2 rear tires. I know this sounds pretty bad, but the car's not all that crappy. Fixing these problems is no big problem for me, but does this sound like a deal i should jump on?

I guess if i get it and it's worse than i expected, i'll just turn it around and sell it. 300 isn't that much cash to throw around.

thanks, brad keith

That sounds like a alright deal ... I imagine the power train is good. Alot of people have TBI's hitting 250k miles and still strong.

Parts for these cars arent rare, heck I got a Firebird hood I'm trying to give away for free. Besides, you said fixing it isn't hard, so I'd get it.

With 123K on that 700R4, its on borrowed time. If you do buy it, I'd expect to have the transmission rebuilt in the near future.

Do you really have to ask then???? $300 for that car is a steal. Grab it before you lose out on the deal.

You cloud part it out for alot more then $300

I was just asking for advice, I thought it was a pretty good deal. I just went out and looked at it. It started right up, and has a rebuilt 700-r4 Woo-Hoo!!. It was blocked in by his step-dads truck so i couldn't drive it, but i bought it anyway. had to give $325 for it though. I'll post some pics up of this poor creature before i nurture her back to health. brad

I know I was just playin. Sounds like a good buy to me that's for sure. Even if you had to give him a extra $25. Definately post some pics, and have fun with your new toy.
