A guy that works with my dad has some nice salad shooters and new Skulte adapters on his vert. I think it looks pretty good, he thinks my wheels look better. We might trade. I might polish them if I get them. What do you think?
Also, what size are salad shooters? Aren't some 16x8 and some 16x7? I wont trade unless they're 16x8!
Anybody want to photoshop some salad shooters onto a black Camaro for me?
Thanks

You will probably get a negative response from most of the people here, but I say if you like 'em, go for it!

I hate the wheels on 4th gens but they really look pretty good on 3rd gens. I look at it this way, I bought my wheels for $250, polished them, and wrapped them with some $430 tires. He spent $300 on some perfect salad shooters, $300+ on the adapters, and close to $600 probably on the tires. I would come out with some nice tires and adapters, that way I could upgrade to some Vette wheels later on and already have the adapters. I'll try to get apic of his car and post it, the wheels look pretty good on thirdgens. I believe he is a member here, maybe he'll post!

Salad shooters look like 91-92 Z28 wheels, but the spokes are split into 2's, with one side being bigger than the other, and the spokes are also directional.

Does anybody know if salad shooters came in more than 1 size?

I wouldn't, I always liked the IROC wheels, but if it's what you want, do it. If you do, I'd still like to see a picture.

No friggin way, plus they're polished so that carries a premium, I know it take some nice wheels for me to trade my polished ones, that was a lot of work into them.

Look at it this way......
For the deal your getting DO IT. Dont listen to anybody else. They dont see the big picture at the end of the hall.

Your making out on the better end. Ride on em for awhile fine some ZR1 rims you like and sale the salad shooters.

Iroc rims can be found again.. Not that often you come across good deal like this.

Like The deal I did ahile back.

I bought a Hooly Stealth Ram. and Fuel rails. was gona use it.
someone offered me a Complete SuperRam.
Base, runners, rails, with adj. fpr. and plenum.

Mmmmm, I jumped on that deal and I powdercoated the HSR for him also.

I can sale the runners and plenum If I choose and buy another HSR. and still have $$ sale the base and have $$ left over.

DO IT IF YOU WANT TO... Dont do it because everyone says No.

I wouldnt do it either, but thats me. And I believe the V6 4th gens got skinnier Salad Shooters, like 16 x 7, Z28's got 16 x 8's, I think, dont hold me to it.

Here's a pic I did up just to give a rough idea of what they'd look like.

IMO, they're not bad. They'd look better on a 91-92 because of the GFX on them, but that's just my 2¢.

Can't beat a nice set of polished IROC rims.

Actually all the Camaro 16" rims are nice!

For those that says he's getting a great deal, I'm just not seeing what the great part is, is it the adapters?

Cuz there's nothing special about the salad shooters.

Looks like you just reposition the hood shocks, though I'm sure it may involve more than just doing that.

Sorry guys, my camaro will prbobaly never live long enough to see being that nice and I don't know anything about the car, just knew of those pics floating around with those wheels.

The 'easiest' method (my assumptions here) for making a hood do that would be to graft the hinge(s) and strike/latch from a late 80's early 90' buick whatevertheyare (can't think of the name right now). The hood pops up like that on them. Since the fronts are realitively the same width as an fbody, I wouldn't think any severe surgery has to be done to make it work. If it weren't for most of my spare change going to my 'bird (and it were legal to drive, assembled, etc..).. I'd attempt putting those hinges on my camaro just to see if I could do it (not like I could hurt the p.o.s...worse ).

I'm sure alot of you also remeber the chromillusion(sp?) colored camaro that was posted awhile back (out of some rodding magazine) that had the same tilt hood as the one above.

That's what I'm saying. I want to eventually get some nice wheels, ZR1, or 2000 Vettes maybe. I wouldn't have to pay a dime for the spacers if I did this trade. He has some 3 month old Z rated BF Goodwrench tires (Radial TAs, not sure if they're KDWS) and my tires are Sumitomo S/Rs with a lower speed rating. His salad shooters look brand new, and could be sold for more than $300 I think. I nicer set of IROCs runs around $200 these days. I could do the trade and buy an extra set of IROC wheels to polish and use from time to time. I'm looking at the big picture here, not just "which looks better." The salad shooters look great on his car (dark red with a tan top). I might ask him if I can put his wheels on one side of my car and see how I like it. I'll let everybody know what happens

I would do it. The salad shooters are basically worthless (ebay), and I think can be had for under $150 .But the spacers are still $300 , so you are coming out slightly ahead as there is no way a set of polished IROCS cost $450.

I took some pics of the guy's car today. I'll have them scanned and up on the boards by tomorrow night. I think the pics will change alot of people's minds about salad shhoters on thirdgens. I think what happens is that people see how bad the wheels look on 4th gens and they say to themselve that they would never look right on a thirdgen, therefore, nobody EVER puts these wheels on a thirdgen, leaving everybody oblivious to how good they look.
I sound like my damn history teacher
I'm not at all saying that salad shooter look as good as ZR1s, 1o-spoke SS, 99 Vette, or Y2K Vette wheels, but I think they look pretty good on thirdgen cars, and hey, I'll have the spacers if I ever plan to get those other nicer wheels
If he's willing to make a straight trade, I'm doin' it. I can ALWAYS find another set of IROCs to polish.
