Thats a clean car for only $600! Good find. My own 89 GTA cost me $1,000 and I didn't even have a working motor!

To remove the bird from the hood, I'd first try getting a heat gun, if you've never seen one, it looks like an industrial hair dryer. Start at the edge of the decal and try to soften it with heat and then carefully try to get under the decal without marring the paint. This will take time - be patient. After the bird is gone, I'd say you will need to buff out the hood, or maybe if you're lucky, just remove the leftover adhesive with an adhesive remover like "Goo Gone", or something similar. Then wax it. This is my best idea, I hope it works.

Looks good! Welcome to the boards. Im a huge fan of the 82-84 body styled Firebird and Trans Am. Great car and great deal. I wish my firebird had a v8 in it when I bought it. Oh well.
I got my firebird for $500 bux. but its a standard bird with a 4 cylinder.
Keep us posted on what you do with it. I love seeing the older birds get attention.

That's the "Knight Rider" TA, well at least the rims and color.
Great find for a great price.
Those wheels are worth some $$ if you can find the black Aluminum "hub caps". Those factory rims are very sharp if they are restored.
I am not a big fan of color changes.. she was born black and the VIN says she's black so leave her be. Besides it is very expensive to do a color change correctly you have to paint every jamb, recess etc. which means disassembling the car. Not a problem if you have the time and the garage space. $$$ to pay someone to do it. Don't believe anyone that says they can make it look good by just "masking off" the car with tape and paper.
Good luck with her!

too be nit picky...those wheels aren't the same ones that were on the Knight Rider car. The wheels you see here are the turbo finned rims that replaced the bowling ball style. The caps kept coming off so I figure they replaced them with these. I have the same styled rims on my S/E and I also have a spare set of the actual KITT rims in my garage...minuse the caps of course.

But that is a very good foundation for the KITT replicar!

Thats what I thought when i first looked at the car. I was a senior in high school ('98) and I was looking for some wheels for cheap. i didn't know much about the fbody except that I wanted one bad.
For $500 who would pass on it!? It need some work but over the years I don't suppose Ive invested more than $1300 on the car. heres a motor shot.

two reasons for his looking the way it does, one being AC of course and i think he still has the smog equipment which i dont think yours does. but still a very nice car, i hope you take our advice and buy a new air cleaner. the interior if the carpet isn't bad can be redone sometimes for relativly cheap, 4th gen seats look great!

That car is a steal. I paid 250 for mine that didnt run and a body that was shot. I wouldve killed for that car when I was looking for a project. It wouldve saved me a winter of learning how to do body work and paint.

Good deal!!! Looks like a solid foundation. I bought my car for $2,700, and almost $5,000 later, new motor/tranny, it still looks, runs, performs like crap, real money pit.
Good luck,
Dave
