Welcome to the boards, you might try splitting this post up into two separate posts maybe, one in body and interior, and one in car audio
First what kind of f-body is it? Camaro? Firebird?
It sounds like you're saying that the center console in your car is broken off from the shifter and back, is that right?
Assuming that's what you're saying, yes there normally is a console there, with a storage compartment, armrest, etc...
You could prolly find one in a junk yard near you (if you have one) or in the worst case pay more $ for one used online (ebay or our sponsors up top might have some for sale).
For a radio, if you want to put an aftermarket stereo in the car, they DEFINITELY make an adaptor kit for fitting most "din"-sized stereos in the "din-and-a-1/2"-sized opening we have in our cars. In my area they run about $16.99 retail, and they're black plastic.
Let me know if that helps at all

I can't help with the console, not sure what the early ones looked like anymore.
As for the radio, you can buy a black molded plastic adaptor plate to fit a common aftermarket unit. Try a shop that installs car audio, if they don't have it, they should be able to get it. I currently have a Kenwood unit w/cassette, 6-1/2 yrs old, good quality for the price, IMO. I'll probably replace it w/ another Kenwood w/ CD.

Score a console from a yard, should be able to get if for cheap. Watch when you swap em though, its cheesy plastic, and will break if it flexes too much. Youll be able to get a stereo in there no prob with an install kit.
