I got my car painted. :)

Here are a few pics of it.

I used a couple of spray cans, got tired of it with the 2 tone look.
Still need to do the window frame.

It is quite dull, and I did miss a few spots since I did this at like 3am a few nights ago. I am not going to bother fixing the paint job I did since it looks good from the street.
At least now it doesn't look like an abandoned car.

Money being the main reason.
It would have been painted if my 305 hadn't died on me.
The $2800 I have so far into the LT4 would have gone towards the paint and other mods for the TPI motor.

nice work on the rattlecans , your car looks pretty straight, i have painted a few beaters with rattlecans and they usually turn out pretty good. definitely an improvement over the 2-tone zepher

It looks better, but everytime i see that car it is sitting on jack stands and it still looks like a trashed thirdgen except now it's got matt black paint. Hopefully it'll be completely fixed up sometime.

My car isn't sitting on jack stands. That is how it sits without a motor, tranny, or battery in the engine bay.
I am selling the OZ's so I can buy some wheels to put onto my brothers 96 T/A so I can get my WS6 wheels back.
Oh, and the jackstands behind the wheels are keeping it from rollong down the driveway since the e-brake isn't hooked up.

i've actually become a fan of the small-panel spraycan route. i've done my GFX a few times like this between current and previous cars. basically, when i changed from 92 to 85-90 gfx, i couldn't match the faded red all around the car, so they became gold. they actually look pretty good.

but the back bumper i bought was black, so that needed a full coat of red too. i usually use the duplicolor cans for the metallic, since they're pretty consistent. but for red and black - krylon high-gloss. it's great stuff. matches factory bright red 398 very well, you can paint a coat every 15 minutes, and the clear does pretty well too.

(i'll post some pics when i get a hold of a digital camera)

i'm tempted to sand the fading door and do that too, but then i'd have to do the whole car and i don't have the time.

That's a great job with the spray cans for a surface area that size, and you did it at 3 a.m. I only use the spray cans for small things like brackets and such and even then it doesn't always come out great. I'm done with spray cans - I'm just going to get an electric spraygun.

Looks better all one color. I a have body work thats needs done before I can even think about paint.

I don't think you will ever be satisfied with a wheel choice. I think we will be seeing 8 more pics of your car in the drive way with no engine and more rims. I think the problem is that every wheel you put on your car looks good. I wouldn't be able to decide either.

Well, I actually want the GS wheels but I can't afford them at the moment (actually, I can't afford anything right now).
Once I get back on my financial feet I'll be able to complete the car in the way that I want it done.
Triple Black with Targa Top, Twin Turbos, Stand-Alone Engine Management, digital cluster from Marks Custom Kits, Ram Air hood, non-pop-up headlights EVO style, 98+ T/A lower bumper fascia, 91-92 Tail lights, Eventually an LT5 with ZF-6 , IRS setup, tubular front end parts, etc....

If you want to invest a little more work into it, you could sand that paint down smooth with 400 or 600 grit, then lay another couple of layers of spraypaint over it, and buff then polish the whole thing, and it wouldnt look too bad.

and when you get done sanding and adding another coat of black, definitely do a coat of clear.

as you paint, a good technique to get a clean finish is to paint in horizontal lines, and leave small gaps between them, then fill the gaps on another pass a few seconds later. basically, the idea is to have about half the current line overlapping other ones. try not to put more than 2 layers directly on top of each other until after they get a few minutes to dry a little and become tacky (don't touch them to test)

This happened Friday night. So as soon as I get this fixed, I'll be working on the 86 to try and finish it by the summer.

Well, I was getting on the highway and as soon as I merged into the lane I was shifting into 4th at 65-75mph, don't remember, but the tires broke loose and the rear end kicked out 90 degrees instantly. I slid into the guard rail, nose first, spun around and tapped the rear and got the car straight and just happened to be heading the correct direction and on the shoulder away from traffic that was coming up from behind. It's all cosmetic and the air bags didn't deploy.
My friend in the back seat broke his nose on the backside of the pass front seat, my friend in the pass seat somehow scratched is nose on the side, and I hit my head onto the drivers side window.

It was wet outside, which was the main factor in the accident.
So, be extra carefull when it's wet. I was way too over-confident in my driving and this is what happened.

Thanks.
I still can't beleive this happened. Just doesn't seem real, almost like it was a dream.

Oh, another strange thing that night, after we dropped off the T/A, we drove to meet some friends in my friends 92 Firebird.
Well, on the way home we hit a huge pot hole that puts a really large dent into the rim and lets all the air out. Now that isn't the strange part. The strange part is that we are now sitting on the opposite side of the highway where I wrecked the T/A a few hours earlier that night. A couple hundred feet ahead of us on the other side of the highway is where we stopped after the T/A spun out.
No spare tire so we waited for a tow truck.

I think its time to find another way to get on the highway at a different ramp. Thats kinda creepy, now if the tow trucks motor would have blown up while he was picking you up then I would have been running away from that spot as quick as possible.

I've been meaning to go back there and take some pictures and see if I can find the drivers side headlight, or what's left of it.
The entire pop-up assemply is gone. The bulbs harness held the bulb in the car but the rest of it popped out.

Damn, dude......

Where is the Off-Ramp of Doom? I'm gonna stay the hell away from that stretch of road.

Now I have to hurry up and get my car painted before your car gets finished, because now i'm the HR area leader for 'Most Colors on one T/A'
