GT Auto accessories sells a notchback hatch, although its not the same style as the original ones.

The notchback on Hawks website is made by GT Auto. You can find a factory GM on ebay from time to time. Also Motion Performance 516-223-3172 has the notchback ferrari hatch. I just had someone stop by the shop today with an 86 Iroc-Z with the ferrari kit trying to sell it. I just happen to take a few pictures.

Not a bad loking IRoc, though I think the hatch on a 84 bird is abit larger then one for a simalier camaro...I could be wrong though...

I like that IROC, but If it was mine I think I'd paint over the firebird emblems on the wheel caps....

Hatches from 82 to 92 were all the same sizewise. There were hatches with a 3rd brake light on top of the hatch, some had it inside the hatch up by the headliner, some didnt have a 3rd brake light at all, and some had one in the spoiler. The deck lids are the same Camaro or Firebird ect for spoiler holes, and if there was no spoiler on it. Even some 3rd gens came with a hatch wiper though it's not really sought after. I dont like that style of notchback on the IROC :nono: from the side it looks like you just painted your hatch glass it just doesnt look right.

Wow teh white one is a motion. I had no idea the had such tall sides on them. I know GT Autos did, but I thought motion was inbetween factory and GT Auto. Well I guess I will be looking on ebay for a factory notch....

i just picked up this notchback after a long while of looking. its got the vents and the lift in the back, pretty hard to get one of these styles.haven't fiberglassed the vents on yet, but you can see where they fit in around the lift. its got a GT wing on it, those are hard to get too. looks like a factory firebird wing i know, but its much wider and much higher off the deck. 2-4 inches of it come off the back of the car. im actually looking to trade it for a 92 camaro spoiler the high rise style. i have another notchback im looking to get rid of, but it needs work. its from a tojan trans am all primbed and in excellent shap. but the tojans had vents on the sail panels and the hatch was made to meet flush with the vents, so the sides have to be shaved down if you want it to meet the sail panels. i have it fitted on my project car right now. let me know what ya think:hail:

Before you buy you buy from Gt Auto you might want to go check out the vendor feedback section. There is guy there who sent them alot of money and never got his product. They also quite responding to emails. I know they quit responding to mine. You might want to watch out. FYI

As far as the notchback goes I don't think that I really like i very much. What ever floats your boat though. Good luck finding one.

Looks ok once you get it finished and painted then it will look pretty good.
Theres only one kind of notchback that looks good to me though. A factory one an owner of a grocery store in this small town that I live in has a GTA with a factory notchback, its soooo sweet looking. The problem with all aftermarkets notchbacks are the sides, It looks like they got a hatchback glass and made the mold out of it and never cut the sides down to make them look more like a factory notchback.

the factory notchback is terrible. they are made from the same material the 85-90 trans am wings are made from. they crack and chip away. i see them all the time around here. the sides are what gives the notch the style. the factory version is flat and has that big window, looks more like a cruck then an fbody. but hey, if you like em you like em. if everyone liked the same thing, life would be boaring

Let's not confuse the notchback with the targa hatch. All the hatches pictured are targa hatches. I like the targa hatch, but not on thirdgens because it doesn't look great with the large b-pilar sail panel. The "notchback" had a much steeper sloping sides which made it look more like a coupe than a hatch.

This is a factory notchback.

I heard that the owner of GT Auto was caught smuggling cocaine (a few pounds) into the States from Mexico. His company was siezed and he is now doing time. That's why there is no GT Auto banner up top any more.

That's what I heard anyway

About the notchback........
A week after a got my GTA I came across a PERFECT notchback for sale. The guy wanted $7500 for it. He obviously didn't know what he had, and I kicked myself for buying my GTA

The factory one looks much much better. The lines flow alot better with the rest of the car. I was wondering why the first pics looked kinda funny. $50k, huh? I'd like to see some pics of that beauty

It would be really nice if someone could make an after market notchback and stop making another variation on the targa hatch.

How about more pics of the above car. I would love to see a side shot to see how the fiero GT spoiler looks on a notch. This is what I was planning for my 82, but with a GM notch (like the red car above Devian posted).
Whose notch is that (manufacturer)?

This is the trojan notchback right? Is this the one you are trying to get rid of? Do you have any pics? Just curious. Its not the style I want, but still curious....

somebody used to make notchback-like hatches , I know , my friend has one on his 88 formula and while in rough shape it looks awesome. It's definitely not factory as factory ones were all fiberglass , his looks like it but has metal reinforcements inside the fiberglass and is one heavy mother****er , lol. Definitely a repro , I just wish I knew who made them back then...

visit www.m*******.cc and look in the picture section to see pics of it. I'll try to post one in a few but there's a lot more in there.

the sides are still a bit bigger than stock notchback but about halfway between the targa hatches and the original

Well the one on ebay is not factory GM, but it does have the low sides like I like. I bet its not motion either, from pics I have seen. Its not GTAuto obviously. LT1guy mentioned that years ago he remembers seeing an add for notchs made by a company in TX. We have no clue who though. I asked the guy for more pics, if he knows who manufactured it, & if its fiberglass or what... But if I get one I will make a mold of it one way or another, so they can be produced, especially in the event something happens to mine. I figure worst case, I could get it to one of the fiberglass companies. They could copy it and give me a few as spares in return...

Hey guys I got word back from the guy. I definately going for it. Now remember if I get it, I will find a way to reproduce it. I'm checking with some people now to see who will repo it for me. I will let you know what I find out tonight! So lets not go too crazy bidding on this thing. Let me see if I can get someone to repro it, so we can all benefit! I'm pretty sure it came from a company that no longer produces it.

From the guy... The rear glass is plexi glass and is removable, unlike the factory, so this is an aftermarket hatch...the hardware is not included...he is in PA...it came on a car.

The shades means he is new to ebay, hence no feedback.

Ok I got work from Hawks!

Yes you heard me right...Hawks 3rd gen! Bruce, a good friend of mine and LT1guy, agreed to take it to his fiberglass guy and see if he could repro it.

So if you guys let me win this notch, Anesthes & Jurrel, I can get them made for you!

I think you all know me well enough to know I get things done. I don't just talk the talk...

Thanks!

I should get the first repro since I'm the one that found it on EBAY for a low low price. I'd be so happy with that notchback on my car.

Heck I'll be happy just to have one. Will there be provisions for a 3 piece spoiler for the camaros??? I also love how the auction said the rear glass was removable could you imagine going down the road with your t's off the windows down and the rear glass out??

I got one on my car and love it. I disagree with the person who said they chip, crack and whatever else in the winter tho. i know this cause sadly my car is sitting out in the cold right now. i live in canada so trust me....its cold. Thatd be great to have them repro id love to see more of them around. espicially on a new body third gen.

Seems like you guys are shooting ur self in the foot, If theres something on eBay I want I wait until the end and bid, this way they cant outbid you, seems like your just prematurely making the price go up when you might make it cheaper if you wait...

Maybe Ive been doing it wrong, the only thing I could see it benifiting is if the guy ended it early, which I doubt he will...

Ebay has always been like that. Everytime I have sold/bought anything, no one ever bid until the last 24 hours. Buy it now rulles if its a decent price.

Ok guys nobody panick...I'm going back to my tried and true method. I'm not going to play eek them up with this guy. I'm waiting til Saturday morning to finish the bidding war, K! So no one freak out if I get outbid. I wan tto try to keep the cost down. I just don't want get hammered by eaby for waiting till the last minute out of the box. I wanted it to get past teh reserve, so now I'm going to sit and wait.
