How many cans?
How many cans?
I recently saw a post by Zepher where he posted pictures of his car after painting it with spray cans. I have one of those cars that is pieced together from 5 other cars and would like for it to be all one color. I can't afford to get a paint job right now and was thinking that having it all one color would be better than what it looks like now even if the paint job is crap. So does anyone know how many cans it would take to paint a Trans Am with T-tops and what paint would be best?
I had always heard that it was bad to leave a car with just primer. I was under the impression that the primer would absorb water and cause a car to rust. If that's not true then I would prefer to go with primer until I can get it painted. So is it bad to leave a car with just primer?

Spray it with a sealer / primer, or spray some rattle can clear over the primer, just dont spray it with some rattle can paint you'll play hell getting off or pay extra to have removed when it comes time for a real paintjob, heck go get a $150 maaco special done on the thing, you'll prob spend 1/3 of that in rattle can crap......
Even a maaco job around here costs about $500. I'm just looking to do something that will make it all one color so it doesn't look like its pieced together from 5 different cars. I'll try primer. Thanks.

They dont have any of the cheaper packages ? Check with a few local paint shops on some type of primer that wont be harmed by leaving it that way for a while

There are two cheapo paintshops around here but they all want to charge me extra because of the fact that I want the car a different color than what it is now. Eventually I'm going to get a really nice paintjob but right now I'm trying to focus on getting all the mechanical parts repaired.

If you'd like to put a real paintjob on it, for cheap, and don't mind doing the prep (and driving it to Atlanta), shoot me a PM. I may have the solution to your problem. BTW, are you in the B'ham F-body Association?
Actually I was kinda joking about wanting to know the number of cans. I think primering it is a good idea just to take away that Frankenstein look.
LT1Guy, I've never heard of the B'ham Fbody Association. Do they have a web site?
