i need to do some cleaning so i'm going to completely redo my underside.....

i was thinking of going candy but it's rather impracticle for a street car.

so, either some sort of gun-metal grey or a satin black....

what do you think? i'm open to suggestions.....also need to paint the trans and rear again.

With as nice of a car as you have I would think that either one of those would look, "off". But with it being driven on the street I cant see putting alot of money into an underbody paint job. Interesting, what to do what to do. What if you did a black with a candy pearl in it or something?

you can't put candy and pearl in the same sentence, especially with black.....but it's definately an interesting idea.

i would think a nice satin black would look nice. painting the underside candy red would be a bit much i think....don't you?

especially since all the junk that can mess it up, if i paint it a nice basic color i can touch it up every year and keep it nice!

any more opinions on this?

Ya I am not really keen on all the hip paint lingo and all that other crap. I was just thinking that a black with some of your cars color flake stuff in it to give it that cool look from certain angles would look pretty cool. especially if you had it at a show with mirrors under it or something. I dont know, dont listen to me. I am half retarded this time of the night.

It's one thing to por-15 the bottom of your car for protection, but paint?? I guess if you run over a person...no make that a circus midget there final words might me "why what a nice paint job!." Other that the occasional miget vechicular homicide I can see a reason to spend any time on a nice pear or flack or kandy paint job ON THE BOTTOM OF A LOW SPROTS CAR. just my two cents.

The only time it will be seen is when you change the oil. But if you must a nice flat or satin black. Sometimes basic is good and clean too.

It's a show car, thats driven, but still a show car, so everything has got to look better then perfect.

and Kandied I think what 89blackGTA said is a good idea, have it black with a red pearl in it to go with the topside of your car. Or a metallic silver/grey to keep with your theme of stock but better.

I did a little experiment. I took some Professional undercoating and mixed it with a little dark magenta red and it gave it a real nice deep red look. I think it came out nice....plus its got the undercoat on it to help stop rust. IMO though......

I read somewhere and its been a while ago so my info may not be exact. They Rhino lined the whole underside. Supposed to have stiffened the car, sound deadened and of course, you wouldn't have to touch it up. But since then I think there are better materials in that type coating department. I cant think of the name off hand but there is a type covering that you can have it match the paint of your car. I would got the min. thickness too. Not to add too much weight, yet still be durable. I wouldn't do the whole bottom of your car in one color either. Do the underbody the same color as your car. Do your rear end, etc., in a different color like the satin black maybe the wheel wells too in black. I know you have an eye for detail so ill stop here.

Look at some lowriders.....

They do an EXCELLENT job of doing an underbody, most are body colored, take their ideas and make it a nice gloss black....

Also think about the chrome lines, and misc. stuff underneath their that can be chromed, to set it apart a little....

thanks guys..........it isn't uncommon to paint a underside the same color as topside. i just don't think it's wise since i drive the car keeping it spotless from chips would be impossible.

figure some sort of gray or black would be nice as it can touch up easy.

i was thinking satin black for the whole underside and then painting my trans casing a gun metal gray to go with my polished driveshaft and gloss black rearend. the lines are all polished underneath and the brake lines are braided.

the whole exhaust is ceramic coated so it will all stand out without being overkill. this little attention to detail matters when your showing for money. thanks again everyone.
