Golden TPI
What exactly would be involved to get a TPI to look like this ? Was it just polished and then sprayed over with gold paint ? how would it hold up against engine heat ? I could imagine it isn't very easy to keep it looking like that
thanks a lot

It looks like gold plating. It would be expensive and I dont think it would hold up to daily driving. I think it would be ok for a show car. although it looks real nice.

That would be perfect for a show car. I wouldnt want to have my engine gold plated one person see's that and you know they'll be trying to steal your car before you know it. I would go with a polished set up or have it chrome plated.

I dont think thats anodized man. Anodizing cast aluminum is really really difficult. It normally comes out splottchy and craptastic looking. I would beat that its either gold plated or its got that gold anodize look paint on it.
that loos like that dupli-color metalcast paint. it make things look anodized they have red, gold, and blue. but it could be that product that eastwood sells it is transparent powder coating. they say it last a long time.

I own a coating company and do powder, thermal, ceramic and i have done electro and ANO coats. anodizing is nice but a pita on aluminum or any porus material.

It should match the 13" spoked Daytons and the gold plated air pumps for the 16 switches very nicely.
I'm dissapointed in the comments you guys are leaving here. Who-ever own that had defiantely put some time/sweat/and work into that. Did anyone notice that is an impala engine bay?? THat is probably a car that would out-show mine anyday.
JUST TO NOTE=== i do not believe that is something i would do, but i give the guy credit for his hard-work

Well I think its sweet as hell, I would really like to know how much $$$ is involved to do this... I would probably do it with my TPI if I would use it as a show car only

I could be way off on this one, but there is a paint that POR-15 has that you put on chrome/polished aluminum and it supposedly stays on through high heat and is very durable... I think I saw it on their web site. But, who knows, it may be plated... but that is very expensive to do.

Gold, ugggggh, but then again you did not ask your opinion on it. I agree that it must have been gold plated. If I ever wanted to spend that much money on plating, I would just go with the standard chrome.
If I was all about the bling bling, I would platnum plate it.
I think a polished finish or a powdercoated finish would be best for a street engine.
