Scored new wheels!

Today I picked up a set of iroc rims in almost perfect condition. Ill get pics once i get my digital camera back. Theyre wrapped in futura 225/50/16 tires with about 5k worth of tread left. I got em at a steal at only 180 bucks.

They have a few blemishes and water spots, whats the best thing to clean these with? I was thinking S.O.S but i dont want to ruin the finish.

Great find at a Great price. I just got a similar deal myself. I just haven't picked them up and payed for them yet. Which style are they? Older or newer? I'd like to see a pic of them because I know how you probably feel. You are probably tickled to death about your lucky find and just wanna show them off. I don't see a problem with that.

Heh, I was just being a dick about that. I wasn't really bothered about it.
The only reason I remember was because I called you
"inbreed."

The guy said these were 225's all around, but today i had a closer look and theyre 245 all the way around, 50 series. Are these too wide? will i get any rubbing while turning? Will it mess up my speedo because side by side the new tires are maybe an inch bigger than my old ones. Im going to wait until summer comes before putting them on because they have summer tread and i want to clean them up a bit.

245's are the stock size. 225's are too small and actually lower the car about 1/2".

You got a smokin deal, but I know where I can get a set for $25 with tires but some jerkoff painted them blue and I'd have to strip and polish them.

thats awesome..i absolutely love the look of iroc rims on any camaro.. and if you have the time and money for materials (which you should, you saved a buttload of money when you bought the rims) definetly polish them, you wont regret it. im doing mine when it gets warm enough to use compound...and a little rubbing compound cleaned mine up when i first got the car. some hot water and a scrub down wouldnt hurt either!

and by the way, 245's shouldnt rub unless your car has the worst alignment known to man

In December of 2001 I bought some IROC wheels for what I thought was a good deal. I spent $450 on tires and everything. A couple weeks ago I found out they were bent really bad. I thought my car just needed it's front-end rebuilt, but I was wrong. Now I have to buy new wheels (probably chrome IROCs). Make sure those wheels you got aren't bent before you put them on your car!!

The tires on these are too high, and they rub.

The current ones are

245/50/16

my stock old ones were

215/70/14

What would i need to keep it the same size?

Would 245/45/16 be enough? The tread on the just bought ones are maybe 50% and they just more than slightly block the wheel fromturning all the way.

If i get spacers will this help, its just barely too large

dyein... make sure you have the fronts on the front & vise-versa. If you put tem on wrong they will rub (more than just the tire).

My 84 camaro came with the 14"ers as well and both my GTA and 91-92 Z/RS 16" wheels fit fine on it (245/50-16 tires). The only rubbing I got was from backing out the driveway and cutting the wheel somewhat hard. They would just barely rub on the inner fender plastic.

yeah they were on the right way. fronts on the front. I seem to be in the same situation as you, so would getting spacers solve that?

good score. Defantly polish them or have them polished. Looks ten times better polished. I almost scored me a set of IROCs before but the day I went to get them they were gone Got any pics of your berlinetta??
