That's what I was saying... that Chrysler has two different platinums from different decades... One for the late 80's Lebaron GTCs and one for the new Neons and Cirrus, which is why I asked for the code.

Most importantly do what makes you happy. Don't build a car for others. Car should not be for status, they should reflect your love for them!
Well I get people asking me all the time what I have spent on the car. This point has been argued alot here and in daily life. I know the majority here don't like the style of my car, but RAIF got a crap load of POSITIVE attention at the World of Wheels. I actually sat there in my chair holding the camera waiting for a break to shoot a pic for about an hour and a half near the end of the show day. I finally gave up. There was always someone by the car looking at it. That said I will tell you what I ahve done to have a show winner!
Low $ stuff for the do it yourselfer. Takes more time & skill then $...
*The key is first off keeping the car clean, inside and out. Baby the interior to keep parts in good condition. Black Magic is your friend! Yes, clean the engine bay too.
*for rough interior pieces check local junkyards, you would be amazed what you can find and clean up. Don't forget Hawks, 3rdgen resource, thirdgen parts...
*for seats...Hawks has these awesome seat covers that are custom replacements for your torn and faded ones. They are vinyl, but feel and look better then alot of leathers in todays production cars. You can get custom colors and combinations!
*Make sure the car actually runs decent! People hear sputtering and backfiring as you pull in!
*GFX. If you are lucky you can find a good used set in a junkyard or thru Hawks, etc...
*Polishing...engine bays look great if you polish components, anyone can buy chrome stuff. Polishing actually stands out if its done well...
*costa a bit more, but....to minimze down time if it is your daily driver...get a replacement part from a junkyard polish it and replace the stock one. Now with mine being a 2.8 parts were easily avail at yards and cheap.
*Painting engine components...a color to compliment the car. Take the part off and clean it well or the paint will chip right back off. Get a junkyard part to clean and paint. Dulicolor has some nice paints now!
*Replace worn broken wirelooms.
*Replace old silicone hoses that are powdery, flakey, and torn...Car runs better too!
*Clean up any rusty parts like engine components or brake calipers and drums. Just painting them satin black like stock will help. For the go getter polish them to make them smooth then paint them. (before I finally found headers for the 2.8 I polished my stock ones and had them ceramic coated...major difference)
*Repaint the engine bay, its always scratched up...its not easy, but I color changed mine with the engine in and you can't tell)
*scrub down and paint your wheel wells with satin black. The dirt comes off easier and the cleaner the better!
*condition all weather stripping so it does not get dull and powdery looking. Black Magic thick trim silicone. Or replace if really bad!
*Touch up or repaint the semigloss paint around the rear window, on t-tops, & wipers....
*nice chrome exhaust tips.
*for me doing conversions that I made helped alot...people assume you paint someone to do it...
*Polish stock aluminum rims!
$ items, vary acording to what you want to spend
*Paint the body.
*A correct repaint of the engine bay will do wonders. If you can pull the engine and clean up the bay enough to shoot so it can be cleared it will do wonders!
*Chrome rims 17s or larger...fresh tires...

I chose the colour off of the 1999 Platinum Series Minivans (caravan or Voyager or whatever) It is the same platinum off the Neons and the Cirrus/Stratus, etc.
One thing I have noticed that makes camaros look really cheap is rims, nice rims (Snypers, BBS, Old Enkei bead locks, etc.) are ok, but when people put huge chromed psyclidellic rims on there car they not only slow it down, but make it look like kinda corney or like a little kid owns it.

ha ha some people.................how do you think you get candy paint?
and for your information, my 18" rims weigh 5 lbs a rim lighter than my old 16's. so think what you want, but it was a 20lb saving going larger.

When I start driving my car to school i will be happier if the ouside is dirty so it won't get much attention. But on the weekends it gets washed, waxed and the interior gets cleaned. i am also sick of when people ask me what kind of car I have and i say a camaro. The first response is, "you are spoiled, i'll bet your mom and dad bought it for ya" I know that isn't true but it still bugs me. So now whenever some asks what kind of car I have I tell em "an old chevy car". its also a good way to filter out the wrong kind of girls. i also want to make it clear that I am not ashamed of my car, it's my baby.

Clean, polish, chrome and shine...
Inside, trick it out with your own personal flair. Awesome tunes with some lighting in the back around a couple of 12's with a couple of amps. Polish and detail everything....
Under the hood, detail it with chrome and polished aluminum. Make it your own and make it trick... Put some lighting under the TPI so that it comes on with either a switch inside or when you open the hood. chrome headers included....
People trip out when I open my hood... My cousin said, " It's the color of money "
A killer paint job and wheels and its all good.... and to do that you need money..
