Thanks man. If anyone wants to see more pics, from different angles i can post more. Other than that just wanted to post this so others can see. Later
yes i agree the stock air intake is a big restriciton. sadly all firebirds with FI got it from 85-90 i believe. i have that same air intake set up on my 87 firebird 2.8 the only mod i did to it was i took the square shaped box off the end on the air intake by the radiator tank and i replaced it with a cylender shaped open element filter from auto zone. i did feel a little difference from it and you can hear it sucking so it has to be doin its job.

How did you make out moving the charcoal canister? That was the hardest part about mine. But then I also put in an Optima battery, which is slightly larger than an AC Delco.

That charcoal canister was a real pain in the ***. Also the fact that the instructions they gave u are a little to hard to understand. They should of had pictures by each step. But lets just say that the canister is so tight right where it is, that i didnt even have to bolt it down. Heres a pic of the canister:
Here i got bored, so heres another two pics
Cant wait to get some shiney new headers

That's right where I squeezed my canister into. And I agree with the need for better and more detailed directions. I also see you didn't use the mount for the MAF that they supply, either. I didn't use any mount. The rubber bellows seem to hold it just fine.

That looks almost like my intake! So does an 89 GTA 5.7 have that same intake as you had before? Maybe the previous owner put the CAI on it. Here is a pic.

Better instructions ... ? For what ? Unless your actually going through with moving the fuel lines and all that other crap, there is nothing mechanical about the whole process. Its basically just "make it fit"

87GTA, i did use the bracket they supplied me with, but i had to drill out two holes on the MAF so could attach it to the bracket with screws.
89blackGTA, that does look pretty much the same as mine, other than the fact that i see the air box on the left is right by the charcoal canister. Must be a different setup than mine.
Hey omni, for some us its just aint as easy, give us a break. Sure i could just said, hell i'll do it all myself and route everything the way i wanted to, but i wanted to go the way SLP did it, and that my friend is not very detailed.

I am probably going to dump that box and put a cone filter on the end.

Well my SLP goes to the side fender, where there is an opening on the passenger side. There the box snugs right up, and gets all its air from there, rather than from the engine compartment. Heres a pic:
Badgta, i know what u saying. I was considering doing custom, but i wanted a factory clean look. Ya i payed premium, but im very happy with it either way. And i have seen some very good custom work too, but took the dark side

Ya that boxy looking intake is the worse POS design ive ever seen. It disgusted me everytime i opened the hood to look at the crap. Seriously i dont know what the hell GM was thinking, why couldnt they just make the same intake as the Camaro? Wierd.

I only drove it once, for like 5 minutes, and honestly wasnt paying attention to any sounds. Im sure there is a difference, but until nice weather with clear roads start coming, i wont know for sure, until i REALLY drive out there, which i cant wait.
Well actually when i had the car running, and the hood opened so i checked everything, the intake does have a low humming sound in idle. So yes it does sound different there, and i assume it sounds louder when u go WOT. But again, i need to take the car out for a real good long ride to find out.
