Need opinions and info on wheels?

I am looking into getting some 17" wheels for my car in the near
future, for both appearance and for clearance of a Baer Track kit.
I want rims where I will not need any spacers and that would
be 17x8 or 8.5 in the front and 17x9.5 in the rear. The wheels
I have narrowed it down to are ROH ZS, Torque Thrust II, and
the Centerline Thruster. I have seen both the ROH ZS and Torque
Thrusts on plenty of third gens, but I haven't seen the Thrusters.
I have a few questions for any one that might know. Would
I have to order the Torque Thrusts with custom backspacing if
I don't want to use spacers? Also, does anyone have any pics
of the Thruster rims on a third gen? I think they used these or something similar on
a Super Chevy Magazine project third gen that they gave away
(it had a purple and silver paint job). If any one has any pictures
of that project car or any other ones of these wheels I would
appreciate it.

You will need spacers with any "bullit style wheel" if you plan on running bigger brakes. The same thing goes for mustang owners as well. I personally have the ROH snypers 17x9 all around with a drop and I love it.

What I meant by buulit style wheels are styles like the Torque Thrusts. However i am not sure on the Crager version of that wheel. It seems to be a little less rounded and may have the clearance for bigger brakes.

What is the difference with the billit style wheel? Is there still clearance issues with, lets say, a 17x9 Torq Thrust IIs with correct backspacing and a billit style wheel of the same size and backspacing?

I am not sure exacty why but I have read numerous times in magazines and catalouges for aftermarket brakes that bullit style wheels cannot be used. I think that they are rounded on the back side as oppsed to a 5 spoke design that has a machined flat back side. Does that make sense? I am looking into getting some Baer brakes soon and all of the listings say that you must have a 16"-17" wheels (brake kit depending) and will not work with bullit style wheels. However, I have seen first gens with aftermarket brakes with the torque thrusts but I am not sure what kind of kit and or spacers they may have used.

Here is my old 91 formula with 16 inch thrusters. I think I am going to put these wheels on my 87 IROC. They have a nice look, and are not that common.

I already went with 17" centerline matrix wheels. Thanks for the pics though.

I got them from Summit and they ran me ~$1100 for the set of 17x8 fronts and 17x9.5 rears.

i really like them but companies always have to ruin wheels by putting in those fake plastic nubs that imatate bolts... very displeasing. i still think the weld pro star Xps are the sickest wheel ever designed

what are these bullit wheels your talking about....ford wheels?

billet wheels shouldn't be an issue, with the right backspacing adjusted even a 16 should clear a baer sport kit.

Kontrax - those are not fake plastic nubs, they are actually machined circular indents.

i agree fake rivets are somewhat not my cup of tea but some like them. however they are a major pita. now on a 3 piece wheel they serve a purpose so it's different however how is anyone but the owner going to know...

nice, as long as its part of the wheel. if they arnt they would be plastic "bolt" imataions. they fall out and look like garbage. as long as its part of the wheel your good

Hey shifty...you wouldn't have any problem putting a nice big set of brakes behind those wheels would you? Something like a Baer kit or Willwood

Mr Z06 has a set of Baer brakes on order for his '90 vert IROC. He's doing front track and rear touring kits. They should look nice behind his 18" IROCs..:hail:
