Anyone have the Vortec Z rims??

I was looking at the #290 Vortec Z rims (17" x 8.5") at http://www.performancewheeloutlet.co...ml?id=2&step=2
It says there are fitments for 67-01 Camaros. When you look at the pic, it looks like the backspacing would be way off and you would need adapters. But why would they say they fit our cars?? Anyone have any idea?? Also, these are aluminum wheels, right? Pics would be great too if you guys got em. Thanks in advance.

I asked this question a while ago as well, no one answered. I agree, anyone know what these look like on a 3rd gen?

I asked Performance Wheel Outlet about the mounting issue, and they said:

"The 290 Vortec Z would work on your vehicle without any changes. It would be available in a 16x8 and a 17x8.5. The wheel may look flush, but the mounting surface is such that it would work fine."

This is in reference to my 84 Camaro, so basically all third gens. Anyone know the widest size tire I can put on the 17 x 8.5 so that they won't rub? Thanks again.

thats because those ARE cobra R wheels.. silly. they just reproduced them.. changed the bolt patern to fit GM cars.. and called them a new name... "Vortec"... to go along with GM's "vortec" engines...

but yeah i wanna buy some too.. looks nice

U can fit the 17x8.5's in the front, and 18x9.5's in the rear. At first they told me the 18x9.5 would fit all the way around so I ordered a set. But they called me back the next day and said the 18's wont fit the front because of offset issues. So I canceled the order and ended up getting a set of wheels from Boyd Coddington. I think the 290 Vortec Z's look great. I had planned to powdercoat them black.
